  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I live in a rural area and own a car. There was a time last year where i didn't have a car for several months and it was literal hell. I keep getting minor problems with my car and it's only a matter of time before I have a major problem.

I'm on disability and am unable to work, which means I wouldn't be able to pay for a major repair. I thought I could always call Uber to take me to my destination, but they may get suspicious that I'm having them drive hours to a bridge. Also, I'm not sure if Uber is still active with the pandemic going on which won't end anytime soon.

I got really confused for a moment and thought you were asking if your car trouble is a good enough reason to kill yourself xD

But now I actually understand, I guess it depends on the actual reason you want to ctb and if jumping is litterally your only option?

My soon to be car problem is what I'm asking about.

I haven't worked in years. If I was suddenly better, I would be unemployable.

I can't say for sure if it is a good enough reason for you. If jumping is your only option you could always uber to a location thats by the bridge and then walk there? Ubers are active just not as frequent and usually cost more. I will be taking one to my hotel room. If you have a better means of ctb I might suggest that. I see you on here a lot. I hope you find your peace soon.

This pandemic thing is truly a nightmare. I hope your car gets restored to a functioning state. But honestly, everyone has their reasons and they are just as important. I guess it all depends, I remember a few years back I had a special thing to me break down like that and I felt just as suicidal and in a state of distress.

I would think about what other options might be available to you. SN is something you could do from home, without having to worry about having a car.

Also, you could always take out a loan to repair your car if the time comes when you feel you have to CTB. I mean - it's not like you'll ever have to pay it back! Although I'd be wary of that option, because if you decide you want to back out it might put you in financial trouble.

Just to add, Uber is still active. I know that another user commented they're less active and cost more - but this hasnt been true for me. Theres way more drivers around than there are passengers, so the fares are low. But I live in a major city, so it might be different if you're somewhere smaller. Perhaps you could get the driver to drop you off somewhere near, but not on the bridge? I dont know how feasible it would be for you to get to where you need to be on the bridge, so I guess that's for you to decide.
