There is but you won't be able to act on it.

You can push front top of your neck with your hand to check it out. The pressure will also push your tongue out which will make you want to gag even more.

It shouldn't last long though, but that depends on your anatomy and luck.

I've seen a mouthguard recommended, is that just to stop biting the tongue or could it help not pushing the tongue out?

I'm using a mouthguard for both purposes.

May help with both, but won't alleviate the gag reflex.
The part of your tongue that's deeper in your mouth being pushed to the top causes it. Mouthguard sadly doesn't help with that

Unfortunately, there is vomiting reflex. Even with a good slip knot tightening the neck. I just failed a full suspension because of that and SI.

I think there is. I read the autopsy of my favourite musician who CTB via hanging and when he was found, he had vomited out his nose onto his chest. I've been looking for answers on this for a really long time since I'd never heard of this before in any other hangings I've read about.
