I'd say it is reliable. You will experience some symptoms of hypoxia like tachycardia(possibly bradycardia, but people tend to mention experiencing their heart beating in any case) i.e. different heart rate elevations, and your skin will start to turn blue. You might start to feel confused or slurred before you lose unconsciousness. It might not be as unpleasant as it sounds, there's been quite a few SN threads posted live without people mentioning specific discomfort.

The Ppeh handbook considers it relatively peaceful.

Inorganic salt induced methemoglobinemia typically changes the redox state of heme (produces methemoglobin) at a rate to be considered to be exponential. Basically when Sodium Nitrite is ingested in the proper dose it will effect the blood rapidly, and induce a chain reaction which impairs the delivery and exchange of oxygen to tissues as methemoglobin is incapable of carrying oxygen or carbouncomfortable.

You will mostlikely feel this as slight to moderate discomfort, but eventually the loss of consciousness will occur prior to this becoming severe or unbearable uncomfort.

Personally, I don't think there is enough information to determine the reliability of SN method. We do know that SN ingestion can most definitely cause death but there is a risk of failure. We can only assume what may or may not cause failure but there is no set of rules we can follow to assure death after taking SN 100% of the time.

2nd attempt with sn failed, followed Stan guide, I couldn't keep it down still despite the meto and fasting etc I was excessively vomiting for hours. Passed out, heart was racing and couldn't stand because of dizziness. Now looking for another method. Still really gutted/disappointed that it didn't work was only a day ago. Managed to drink some of it but not all too much passing out and coming round.

Damn that's the only reason I haven't ctb yet. I am afraid of failing

In some cases people go unconscious quickly, in some cases not. In some cases it's peaceful, in some cases painful, in some cases cause suffocation.

How many grams of SN did you drink?
Did you drink SN second time after vomiting?

Agreed. I think each person is different are our bodies are as well. Some of us have preexisting conditions like heart disease which could really change things.

Did you read the documentary about the person that ctb with SN while someone watched and reported? I wouldn't say it was painful but it definitely wasn't pleasant. I'm considering this method too but I have my doubts.
