Do you think, or have you the background to back up, whether consuming pornography daily or semi-daily would be related with depression or other mental issues, or not all?

My opinion is that it worsens your mental state but the deeper cause of the psychological struggle existed before and wouldn't disappear if you never used it again.

I don't have sex, but one thing that shouldn't be questioned is whether it impacts erectile function. If you watch frequently is harder to get aroused with things that before were stimulating. I'm told this affects sexual relations.

Yes, it is harmful. No one should be consuming pornography, especially those with developing brains.

So for me personally yes I agree porn can cause a lot of damage. In my life porn being around lead to me being sexually abused from age five to 12. Due to this I knew a lot about sex at an age I shouldnt have and lead to me watching porn before I was a teenager and I feel that damaged me more and gave me a massive unhealthy beauty standard.

As I got older the effects of it have followed me and in my early dating days I was with someone who constantly compared me to pornstars he liked. I wasnt enough and he needed something "pretty" to look at. Whenever Ive had a partner who constantly watches porn sex has never been a thing. T(Which in some cases worked out for me because its hard for me to have sex sometimes due to my past)

This is my personal view becaus its never been a positive thing in my life. I know in general porn is normal as you grow up ect. I hope this made sense!

Yeah, just like playing League of Legends hours every day, getting drunk, staying up late or smoking dope, the kids do all the things needed to turn their brains to mush... šŸ˜†

I am awake 5:40 am because I was watching porn. This addiction affects my routine and makes me more depressed for about 2 years.
Porn + procrastination have fucked with my self-esteem.

It's just probably one of the most disruptive individually along with drugs or trauma. With a developing mind or in combination with trauma or sexual abuse, yes, it can be very, very damaging. Just by itself. But a lot of things can also trigger disorders.

I'd be fucked anyway due to autism and severe attachment disorder, but cooming daily since age 11/12 certainly couldn't have helped anything. Neither the six hours of gaming per day, lol. Well, nothing I can do about it now. It's already over.

OK, since the thread seems interesting to some users I shall share my own tragic story regarding pornography. The way it damaged me is very unusual.

Back in my late teens, as I was browsing one of the biggest porn sites in the web, one of these ads for a bigger penis caught my attention. Of course, I mostly clicked it because I was bored and I wanted to laugh at it. The word "cringe" didn't exist, but you can be sure that teenagers of all epochs have basked in it, so anything absurd or foolish was entertaining to me. However, this innocent little click sent me into a bizarre rabbit hole from which emerged sexually disabled.

I don't know why, because the ad itself only led me to download mp4s of a fat man "jelquing", which weren't particularly convincing, but somehow from this "lead" I managed to land in a forum. Thundersplace. This is what tipped me over to the idea of the exercises of penile enlargement being serious and not dangerous or a joke. This forum had hundreds, perhaps thousands of active users detailing their "gains" from "jelquing, kegels" and such. I did these exercises recklessly for 3 months and by the end of it I had lost the ability to feel anything upon ejaculation and endured more than a year of pelvic pain. Once that resolved, I regained part of my erectile function, but I haven't had an orgasm in 10 years. Visits to urologists or muscle experts haven't helped, although I know for a fact guys with a similar problem solved it through physiotherapy.

Pornography induced penis insecurity led me to permamently damage my sexuality.

Tbh on average a man will masturbate five times a week, so l don't think a daily emission is massively harmful.

Of course not, but we're talking about jacking it to porn. Some get porn-induced ED, and porn is made to look good rather than feel good, so it's now a thing for young people to imitate porn rather than have loving, intimate sex. Might also influence people to want to have several shorter relationships or sex-based relationships (fwb, etc).

It's a superstimulus; and like with gaming, gambling, drinking and real sex, it will affect the dopaminergic system. Can lead to anhedonia and stuff. It all varies on the person, of course, some will handle it better than others. Also, seems like an advantage against the downsides to start cooming late in life. For me, I think it must have had some influence on my anhedonia/apathy, but probably not enough to save me from my bigger defects if it weren't there.

damn, similar situation. Wish my parents never gifted me the console so I wouldn't fall down that rabbit hole.

Doing it daily is absolutely retarded, I'd consider it as a form of LDAR.

Most definitely. Excessive porn consumption and addiction can be extremely detrimental, especially at a formative age.

Excuse me, zoomer, but wtf is LDAR. Google shows something about "Leakage". It surely isn't that, right? šŸ¤¢

If something is retarded or not depends on the goal.

At this point, me too, but that's after many years of watching it. It used to have an incredibly stimulating effect, exactly how drugs are supposed to behave, btw.

I actually dated an ex porn actress for a while when I was younger.

Is pornography harmful? I believe it can be.

However, like other guilty pleasures such as drugs including alcohol, and junk food, if you exercise some self-control, enjoy in moderation, and keep it away from minors, it's fairly safe.

Nah, you just have to diversify your porn content and not get too stuck on one thing otherwise it gets boring once you consume all content of that particular thing.

I try to masturbate once a day to prevent prostate cancer. No more, no less.

I never could fap to this. Actually, as I watched more porn I became more feminine in my tastes (pornographers say softcore is more consumed by women): I started looking at people kissing and such. People say porn normally does the opposite to you, supposedly makes you seek "more extreme" material over time. This is another area in which I am weird.

If I want to see something violent I would watch a gore video. It's very strange how common it seems to be that sex and violence mingle in the mind of people.

I would much rather see videos of what I stated previously in my "Dr. Ruth" thread. At least people would learn something useful.
