I was washing dishes when I heard violent knocking and doorbell ringing on the door. I'd never heard anyone knock the door that hard so I had to check who it was.
I opened it to find an Asian couple. The guy was about 6ft and looked like he worked out a lot. The lady was about my height and seemed timid. They wanted to know if my roommate was in the house. Apparently he offered some legal service to the mother of the timid woman and charged $4000, but he never solved their problem he just took the money and said he would. They wanted to know where he was and I told them he was traveling in Asia and would return in two weeks because that's what he told me. The guy said my roommate told him he was in America on business. Either way he's not in the country and he's not answering their phone calls or internet messages.
The guy kept yelling about being defrauded and calling the cops if he didn't get the money. The more he talked about it the angrier he got. He looked like he was going to fight me over the money and I had nothing to do with it! He told me to tell my roommate that when he gets back he has to give them their money back. I assured them that I would do that and they walked away.
Is this a case of some misunderstanding or outright scumbaggery? I hate my roommate deeply and I'm leaning towards the latter. I feel sorry for the couple and the mother. Losing $4000 is no joke at all and I hope they get their money back or the service they were promised.
I somehow feel vindicated. I knew he was a piece of shit but I only had my interactions with him as proof. Now I know that he's a piece of shit with other people to. That means that all the negative interactions with him in the past were partly due to his shitty nature
