  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Is it reasonable to assume 90% of us here are simply broke people???

Because if we were rich or born into money, chances are we're too busy enjoying life, to ever end up here

Isn't it pretty sad?? Us broke people, were simply born and destined to live a life full of struggle, ever since the start

I understand there may be exceptions. But at least for most broke people, we were born with disadvantage, ever since the beginning

The cards are stacked against us

If I was rich, chances are I won't be on this site lol. Probably would of never been depressed to a point that I would even discover this site, or ever end up as a long-term member here

I'd blow money on other things and luxuries to uplift the mood instead

I was suicidal and depressed long before I really had much of a concept of financial struggle. Now I'm terrifyingly broke and it's a huge influencing factor, probably the biggest.

Imagine someone born into wealth, has good health, and even good looking

Basically won the lottery of life lol. Won the jackpot without trying

While us broke people, are fighting our whole lives just for bread crumbs

Nobody pointing out the additional consideration, albeit minor, that wealthier people have way more options to ctb without needing to hunt down obscure storefronts in South American countries.

I recall a while ago, seeing a member wanting to hang himself, and shared that he could only afford to buy half the items, and need to work some remaining shifts, in order to afford buying the remaining items

It was sad to witness.

It's difficult to imagine rich people hanging out in some private VIP club, or on some yacht, planning their next adventure

While we're hanging out on suicide forums, planning our CTB

I wish it was illegal for broke people to have kids

Yeah I imagine the rich suicidal people are usually already dead, I know I would be, being rich doesn't fix everything especially when your health is fucked beyond repair

Yeah, if I was rich, I'll just offer some nice money, and have people source me some high quality nembutal and Fentanyl

Literally have it hand delivered to me, in return for a nice tip

I agree with this statement. The more I think about what I'd want to say if I left a note behind, the more I realize the deep rooted truth is "I ran out of money to keep on living". I want financial freedom to be able to keep myself alive by asking "What's the next thing I want to do today?" without barriers or hesitation. That would change absolutely everything for me. I was briefly rich and I attribute the ongoing depression to not having had full autonomy or agency over my life at the time.

I would have been upper middle class if it weren't for my mental illness. Being poor sucks, but it was an effect of being mentally ill, rather than the cost of it.

I don't have any statistics, but I assume that a person who searches for and attend a suicide forum is unhappy and hopeless, on the bottom of the well. Considering that some here are just spying, yeah, I'd regard 90% a good number.

P.S.: OP mentioned broke people as poor, but I don't think it's the only source of suffering and loss of opportunities - there are many of them, unfortunately =/

I have sympathy for those who are in the situation they are in because of finances, mostly because I think it's unfair that people should be forced to suffer because of access to resources. I am very much pro choice but the fact people feel 'forced' into decisions like these due to something like wealth is bleak. It makes me wish I could help. In my case, I am financially okay (well. complicated. but for now..) and my desire to kill myself is solely a result of mental illness. No amount of money is going to save me. I could be rich and still be stuck doing hundreds of compulsions a day. That's no way to live. Not worth it.
