Is it possible to be unable to find your 'sweet spot' (carotids)?

I tested one method to hang myself earlier but I was unable to find my 'sweet spot.' I have been trying to find it for months but I just can't. In past attempts, the closest I got was a swollen head, tingly lips/face, dampening of hearing, and blooddshot eyes. Is my neck to fat? How did you find it?

I have only tried once and didn't find it but now I realized my setup was all wrong. In theory we should be able to find them as we all have carotid arteries and most people's hangings are partial than full suspension. But most here have been trying many times with no luck. Maybe it not for everyone? I don't know
