I would imagine hollow point would much better than FMJ. Specifically 7.62x39.

I knew someone who shot himself in the chest using a 30 caliber rifle. He was 24. He died almost instantly explosion heart and respiratory. There's not much pain, it's too traumatic, the body just goes into shock and death is fast.
I don't know anyone that shot themselves in the head. If it's a shotgun or high caliber done correctly the whole head explodes so I don't think there's any pain

Not that many people want to go by gunshot in the US either. St least to say I've posted multiple times trying to find a partner and I have firearms. Ultimately no one wanted to go through with it with me.

I am fairly new here, but I would consider flying over to you to do it? do you only have one firearm or two of them? so we could do it at the same time

We don't have the most gun-friendly laws either here in Canada but at least its something. Although I don't know if I will ever have enough courage to do it. Also we have like a cooldown period after applying for a gun license (which comes after an 11 passing two tests after an 11-ish hour course) so you know, people cant do something crazy right away >www<

I've wondered that same question. I recently purchased a gun so I have it ready when my day comes. I bought hollow points to ensure maximum damage to me. Shooting myself in the head is what I gravitate to, but I've recently been considering shooting myself in the heart instead. I think either way it'll be quick and painless because of the shock and trauma to my body. But I too wonder and think about both.

Shot in the heart, you die almost instantly.
Shot in the head, you are turned off instantly.

I think there's a bit higher of a chance for surviving a shot to the head, but if done correctly, it usually doesn't matter. I assume being shot in the head is the least painful, it's an instant out. If you get shot in the head, pain could happen, but you're dead no matter what. I don't know if it'd be possible, but I'd aim for the head first. If that doesn't kill you instantly and you have the means to shoot again, aim for the heart. I'd imagine being shot in both, you'd be sure to die no matter if someone tries to save you or not.

Shooting yourself in the heart will kill you very quickly with minimal pain. Shooting yourself in the head will instantly kill you and destroy the organ that allows you to feel pain in the first place.

head's better

For me both my head and heart at same time, and I guess liver too why not as I fall into a volcano of lava, That should be painless and guaranteed death. That would be how I would go via this method. Sadly I don't own weapons to kill myself.

Saraina vs the Volcano! A new movie sequal?
Getting to an active volcano is the difficult part.

If you are going for a torso shot, make damn sure you get the heart. A sloppy attempt could sever your spine and leave you paralyzed.

As I've posted before, I'm going for a shot above the tip of my ear. The massive damage from the hollow point bullet and the shock wave should do it. Definitely no temple or under the chin shots!

You are?aware of dying.
If you have ever seen a video of someone getting shot in the head, they just stop and go limp. Done. Turned off instantly.

Now, if doing this yourself, aim well so you do not wound yourself. There are threads on this.

In head less painful if so well aimed in the brain

I don't know if you'd still be able to see to aim for the heart if the first shot in the head didn't work.

shots
But, if you mess up on the headshot, you could end up blind with brain damage :(

In my opinion, that is worse tbh. Brain damage itself can cause mood dysregulation. And people get upset at you about the symptoms it causes like forgetfulness. Plus, brain damage can cause disability including paralysis on top of it.

Although being paralyzed neck down would feel claustrophobic I think. Not sure if that happens from chest shot or not. But I saw a person who survived a chest shot and they were still able to use a wheelchair and roll themself.

Sometimes I wish that I hadn't researched so much about the potential possibilities
I have heard some people who were shot saying they didn't feel any pain because of adrenaline.

But heard other stories of people screaming and said it was the worst pain they'd ever felt :(

Pretty sure the person from my first sentence wasn't shot in the head.

I guess it probably depends on if you immediately go unconscious or not. And if the chest shot hits your heart, I think you can bleed out pretty quickly. But it's a difficult target to aim for because your ribs can deflect the bullet and the sternum is the thickest bone which is right in front of the heart to protect it.

Most attempts w/ guns cause burns from the muzzle flash/fire that explodes out of the barrel because of being a point-blank/contact shot pressed up against the skin. Just so you know
:(
Here read this. They go over how to make shooting yourself the most instant and painless.
Thread 'Bullet trajectory, brains, and you: a physics problem'

Just a note for anyone who sees this that A & B in the photos on that link are not likely to "complete" because the skull is extremely thick there to protect the brain. It is the thickest part of the skull specifically because it is behind the brainstem. And all the vital organs have thick bones/barriers there "designed" to protect them & help prevent death.

Also, this info about what might be most instant & cause immediate unconsciousness is based on that poster's opinion.
