  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

In the US, if you don't live in a 'Death With Dignity' state, would it be illegal for your family members to be present for your euthanasia? Could they be charged with anything? Obviously they wouldn't be assisting in any way, just in the room when the time comes.

You won't even be able to carry out the act legally. You should look at swiss, it's legal there and far fewer restrictions and red tape.

A person does not have a legal duty to act on behalf of someone to prevent them from comitting suicide. So long as the person does not illegally contribute to the suicide or illegally assist in the carrying out of the suicide, that person should not be charged criminally.

In Germany it is, since you are legally obligated to "rescue" someone comitting suicide.

Really? From what I've read, suicide is now considered legal in the US. I just can't find much info regarding the legality of others being present (in states that don't allow for physician-assisted suicide). Unfortunately I am unable to travel, so Switzerland is out of the question.
