  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I am thinking of committing suicide with helium. Is 10 liters of helium enough?

A 10L water capacity cylinder is equivalent to ~60cf of gas; so it is definitely sufficient for your needs. However, please be advised that most retail helium is doped with oxygen. As an alternative, you can choose either nitrogen or argon, and methane to a lesser degree. Hope that helps.

I saw a news report a while back where some company was selling helium kits so schools could send up a big balloon with a tiny camera attached to it, that would transmit the images back to the school, so the kids could see, essentially, the edge of space.

I wondered how many of those kits would you need to lift a human to the edge of space - or pretty high up?

Got to have a lot more lift than a hot air balloon, right?

And if that happened - ignoring wind, etc - assuming you went straight up, and the earth is spinning - how long would it be before you were over the Pacific - or Europe - or wherever?
