I definitely have intrusive thoughts all the time and it makes me really uncomfortable. (Though I don't count being suicidal as an intrusive thought, at least for me). Can anyone relate?

Yeah, I have horrible flashbacks from the past all the time. PTSD is a bitch.

Totally. I'll have the typical "call of the void" type of thoughts where one part of my brain is like, "Hmmm... maybe I could just veer my car into oncoming traffic," and then the other part of my brain is like, "Or we could NOT do that, you fucking weirdo." Then there are the completely random intrusive thoughts that are like, "Hey, littlelungs... wouldn't it be funny if you licked that stranger's bald head and then got down on all fours and ran away?"

I obviously don't act on them, but they're weird and sometimes disturbing as shit.

Yes. Intrusive thoughts are the worst part of OCD for me. Since I've been on medication they have declined dramatically, but a few years ago I was absolutely hounded by them. Pretty much to the point of madness.

They would always center around things I was actually horrified of, namely violent acts. I would compulsively and illogically fantasize about harming others, and at the same time it would send me into a frenzied state of anxiety, because my rational mind was fighting it every inch of the way. I thought I was becoming a monster and psychopath, and it was only when I learned that intrusive thoughts focus on what you're actually most afraid of that they started to lose their power over me. Well, that and meds, of course.

I very briefly had intrusive thoughts about a young relative of mine getting really badly hurt or dying. No idea where they came from, but it's horrible to be sitting around at home and then imagine a baby dying. Seems to have passed now.

Absolutely. I've been struggling with intrusive thoughts for years and cannot seem to thwart them.

Yes intrusive thoughts really suck Especially when in relationship I tend to get bad thoughts I can't stop and they just keep replaying in my head. In the past they were really bad that they would cause me to puke and had to try taking pills or drinking to get them to stop.

Same here, the hardest part is that I remember exactly how I started having them and it was honestly just by learning they existed. I would wonder what would be the most disgusting thing for me to think about and then start thinking about it, torturing yourself mentally like that is not nice.

I also have intrusive thoughts everyday which cloud my focus and concentration. Very debilitating stress.
