The downside of argon is that it is heavier than air and as such using it with an exit bag, even with a higher flow rate, tends to fail because air rises and argon sinks.

There are tons of reported failures with argon on here. I personally only think it would work with some kind of mask.

damn, my bias led me to believe it would be better at pushing the exhaled co2 out. It's the only thing I can get near me
