So I'm a kiwi in the US. I have my SN here. But I don't really want to have my ashes spread here or die here. The US hasn't been very good to me, trust me, stay in NZ.

I'm wondering if SN is available there, so that I could die there. I already have a burial plot in Waipu, because my great great great I don't know how many greats grandfather was the captain of one of the first Scottish vessels to arrive and colonize New Zealand. If I die down there, I reckon my ashes will be put there with my moms side of the family.

If you have it already, can you take it with you? Is it a controlled substance in NZ?

I'm sure I l legally can, I'm not so worried about bio security NZ because I always get told "green lane" on arrival, I'm worried more about getting it out of the US. It's something innocuous that looks suspicious I guess. I just want to know if it's readily available down there. I know Europe it's tough to get.

Unless it's loose white powder in a baggie I can't imagine much trouble getting it out of the US. Is it in the manufacturer's package?

I'd be more concerned about either US or NZ airport authorities detecting it, thinking it was drugs and then once you persuaded them that it was merely legal SN, you not being convincing enough in making an excuse for why you have it, and them calling police on you as a suicide risk.

I ordered it in from overseas.
There are some chemical suppliers selling it here but I didn't try to get it through them because I was worried they were going to ask what I need it for.
There also used to be a seller on the local auction site but he stopped selling it because he caught on what people were buying it for (before he stopped selling it he started asking buyers what they needed it for).

If you can't find it locally in NZ and wanted to order it from overseas, an Australian supplier might be good because presumably mail from Australia is generally regarded by NZ customs as less potentially suss than from countries like China. I've had no difficulties getting it from an Australian chemical supplier, with a proper full website rather than eBay.

It's hard enough just getting a bottle of l&p here so this is why i was asking haha

There are probably US-based resellers too, if you do a Google search.

Nope, at least not for an acceptable price. Need to wait for relatives to come.

Put it in your checked baggage so you avoid TSA.

TSA x rays/ct scans all checked baggage, and mine gets hand inspected about 40% of the time. I'm already settled on getting SN while in NZ, not bringing it in. In the event of it being found, even though it's legal, it instantly becomes a problem when it's an international flight. I'm a former airline pilot btw.

It's legal in the US and sounds like it's legal to at least possess in NZ, right?
If so, who cares if it's detected?? Again, it's legal and not drugs.
In terms of not coming up with a good enough reason to have.....why would you need any reason?
Why would someone question why you have something that is perfectly legal to have?

Obviously, do whatever you are comfortable with...but I personally wouldn't worry about it - at all...

You can get it over here, most places will only sell it to business or schools though and or in 25kg bags

Sorry. I wasn't thinking about yours being international travel. I was thinking that when I travel within the US I just put stuff in question in checked baggage. I forgot about customs in your case.

Could you just mail it to yourself from here? Or are you decided to try for it once home?

Either way, best to you. :)

I didn't think about mail, that's a good idea, but probably very expensive.

Did you end up coming back to NZ for the lockdown?
