I always hear people talk about how they want a terminal illness so they can follow their dreams and do fun things, but in reality, do you really think if you had a terminal illness, that you would have the energy and health to enjoy those dreams, let alone do them?

Also, it's not like when someone has cancer and the doctor says "you have 4 weeks to live" that you just run along and then after 4 weeks, your heart just stops...it's not a fun process...

My mom is a retired Oncology Nurse and I went to her work a lot growing up :/ Cancer is scary.

I would be actually happy to learn that I have a terminal illness, as it would remove all that uncertainty about the end. I'd take out a huge loan, then take all my money from the bank, buy a lot of pain meds and travel the world as long as I could. Then before things get unbearable, I'd just CTB.

So Agree, being hit with news that you have cancer is terrifying. it makes you question who you are, what your done with your life and forces you to imagine all the plans you have for the future that you might not get to see. even if you want to CBT. it will effect your entire outlook. simply because once you have it and if it's not treatable. you can't back out.

At 19 i did want to die. but the news hit me like a ton of bricks and i was crying my poor little eyes out for weeks. thinking why did this happen to me. what did i do wrong that my life has ended up here. cancer can force you to really confront your demons.

Suppose you would receive quality free treatment. Would you accept it?

If the "quality free treatment" was unlimited quantities of the finest 30 year old single malt scotch, then yes. Otherwise, no.

i don't mean to burst your bubble but knowing you're going to die and refusing help against it is still suicide. It's just the lazy variety.
I don't agree. I think making the decision to let nature take its course is one that a lot of people choose to make after many failed treatments all the time. Not continuing or beginning risky treatment is not the same as suicide in my opinion.

You probably didn't do anything wrong. Sadly, cancer is just random. We all have it in our bodies and it can activate at anytime. My mom had wealthy, marathon runners on clean diets come into the Oncology unit. It made me so paranoid that no one is safe from cancer, no matter how healthy you live your life. :(

it's only risky if you don't want to die in the first place.

I am with broken chimera on that depending on the disease say terminal radiation I would expose myself to a lethal dose if possible and die by over exposure- brutal but it sounds fun. if it was cancer I would od on something if possible if it would take more than 6 months to fight, and if it was anything that effects my brain like alzhimers I would shoot myself in the heart (never shoot for the head if you don't die you will wish you had, but the heart if it doesn't kill you you wont be that much worse off.
