What do you think? Too ambitious.
Wow! You really went the whole way. Good on you. You know, that's one of the things that sullies the potential experience for me, not being able to have a travel partner. There's something wonderfully intimate in sharing a quiet moment on some pristine location and just breathing in the quiet.Just last year, as a matter of fact - my wife and I drove San Diego to Anchorage in the spring. I really wanted to share those stretches of paradise with someone else.

I don't think that sounds too ambitious at all! I have never been to the Northwest, but sure would have liked/like to visit.OK, I'm going to relate my road-trip fantasy. It's unlikely I'll be able to pull it off, but I hold onto it as a way to keep me focused on the task at hand.
I love the Northwest. Spent a great deal of time out in Oregon and Washington when i was a teenager, spending time out in the woods or along the Pacific coastline.
So, my plan is to rent a car and make the journey from San Diego, CA to Vancouver BC. I'd make a number of stops to visit dear friends I haven't seen in a while, my way of saying goodbye but without they're knowing. I'd visit Redwood forests in Yosemite and Kings Canyon. And I'd visit my favorite towns and cities: Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Eureka, Portland, Salem, Seattle, and finally Vancouver. There's a little island off the coast of Vancouver where I'd like to rent a cottage and that's where I'd finalize. It would be a big rolling going away party.

Thanks for the kind words. I think that a travel partner would only work in my case if they were informed what my ultimate goal for the trip was. That's why in the past I've posted here looking for CBT partner. But I've never gotten a response. We'll see. I'm looking at dates again, so I may post another request for a pact partner soon.Feeling bad for your situation. Maybe you could try to find a travel partner for one last hurrah. Travel forums or ride share apps(?) I dunno. Might be something you'd want to scratch off the list before going...
I think it is a stellar idea. You honor yourself with a wonderful last peaceful journey through some of the most beautiful spots in the world, for what we hopeOK, I'm going to relate my road-trip fantasy. Give me a PM @charlie_z, I'd be up for that :)Thanks for the kind words. I think that a travel partner would only work in my case if they were informed what my ultimate goal for the trip was. I meant to write you sooner. My mind increasingly finds ways to distract me from the important stuff. The recounting of childhood memories has always resounded with me. And when I am lucky enough to read something as touching and elegant as what you've chosen to share with me and the community, I'm left speechless. If you're interested, there's an excerpt from a short story I wrote a while back. It resembles, in a roundabout way, what you've written here. Let me know. Un abrazo fuerte.I don't think that sounds too ambitious at all! I have never been to the Northwest, but sure would have liked/like to visit.
A quite and lengthy drive to the beach on the East coast of the country I live in. A favorite childhood beach, where I spent many times with family. Mainly shells though, a shelly beach, not much sand. You can see all the way across to another part of the country, and on a sunny day it's hazy and the water shimmers under the brightness of the sun. The contrast of the white shells glisten against the blue ocean back drop. Under the tree where I sat with my family as a child and had meals....under a bright full moon, a still night with nothing but the sound of waves lapping, gently kissing the shoreline.....that is my fantasy location I would drive to cbt.
Been to Alaska more than three times: there's a region called " The Alaska Triangle". 20,000 persons have vanished there the past four decades. Otter Man AKA Kushtaka . . . .Paulides. Heh.
Have done a fair amount of hiking/camping out there. Actually prefer the Alaskan backwoods. Much more remote.
If I wasn't in this shit hole of a state. Itd be the woods. I feel best there.
Definitely somewhere near the ocean.
I've always favored Olympic Natl. Park/Forest in WA.
The temperate rainforest gives it an almost disney-like appeal. This is a place where you literally can lie down comfortably on the moss-covered ground and immediately feel very in tune with your surroundings as everything is so moist, fresh, clean and green. What a slice of heaven it is there.

The very definition of "lush."
OK, I'm going to relate my road-trip fantasy.
Not without driving 300 miles to get therePlenty of trees/woods in Cali, no?
I've never seen anything like this in my whole life. Thank you for this. It looks so blissful and relaxing. I would take off my shoes and just take in what the earth has to offer for the last time
