If I CTB, will my ex be informed ?

I've been planning to CTB for a while. I feel like the time is coming, just a few months left.

My ex and I broke up 4 months ago. we have been together almost 3 years. We have nothing that links us together (no friends in common, no properties, no kids, no assets, our families don't know each other). I really really don't want my ex to find out about it when time comes.

I know he wouldn't blame himself but at the same time I don't want to bother in anyhow his life any longer. I don't want him to feel bad because of me. I just want him to think I just moved on with my life. I want him to be happy.

So the question is : will authorities contact him? Will he be notified about it? Is there a way to prevent it?

If there's nothing that links you two, then hopefully you should be alright. Although, if you still have him saved as a contact on your phone, I would delete it, to cut all possible ties.

The police usually contact your next of kin. If they can't find the next of kin they will try to contact another relative. If you were married, they might contact him even if you separated recently.
