Sounds rather like a con article if thats the right word to use.............says they give you drugs to take home.............cant see that, all I know about assisted suicide is that its done at clinics with doctors present, they wouldn't just give you drugs and send you on your way to do it at home. The bit about having to ring for ambulance etc, all sounds very odd. No doctor would give out drugs so you could kill yourself like this, would have to be done under laws etc and in controlled environments. I'm not saying it mightn't be true but cant see it somehow. Maybe written by someone anti euthanasia trying to put the frighteners on.
Thank for sharing though its interesting.

In Oregon, a physician doesn't have to be present. I think it's a prescription you fill. You can read about it on their government website.

Oh thats interesting, wouldn't think be as easy as just having a script and take home...........could end up in the wrong hands.

Yeah, that surprised me too. I mean, they won't even let you take ketamine nose spray outside of strict clinic watch. No option to take that home, and it won't kill anyone!

It looks like you have to wade through some red tape, but they even leave the choice of lethal drug up to the prescribing doctor.

This article is biased.

First of all, it is published by a pro-life organization, so we can hardly expect it to provide an objective, well-balanced view of suicide. Second of all, you can tell by the wording and the undertones that it is deeply anti-choice.

Consider this quote:
Not the kind of death either one of them had envisioned.

Consider also the rhetoric and the choice of words: peaceful - caring (expectation) versus horryfing - dark (reality)

This juxtaposition is meant to strengthen their thesis argument: suicide is anything but peaceful.

These people should really learn more about argumentation and not rely on cheap tricks.

Can anyone link a rebuttal to the article?

Genuine question

Would very much like to see one, I'd hate to believe this article if it was false

I have neither the strength nor the inclination to be a Don Quixote fighting against wind mills. But I hope others will.

It is a futile enterprise, imo, to reason with random pro-lifers on the internet.

I've no doubt that euthanasia sometimes goes wrong.

'Evidence shows that assisted suicide can and does add trauma and stress to what would have been a natural and peaceful death.'

My arse it does. A natural death us often prolonged and horrific.

Pro life propaganda, nothing more. They take things out of their context in order to scare people. The case of D Pruiit is real but no one knows exatly what happened since he did it at home with her wife as only witness. Better stay with the official stastistics.

Not to be an asshole. But envisioning and the reality of it, can be two separate things.
Just another 2 cents found on the ground

I'm shutting down a little reading this stuff

I don't necessarily think the pro-life publication is right I just have no soothing explanation or video to the contrary
