Suicide is extremely difficult , si , no one can help you, not 100000 youtube how to videos as there are for everything else etc. etc. etc.
This is just in one country the U.S. in one year. 1.4 million attempts yet only 47,000 died.

I'm talking about hanging specifically and it's effectiveness, not suicide as a whole... OP asked how partial is achieved so I answered.

Again, all I'm saying is that from a purely technical standpoint hanging is simple. That's a fact and all the evidence is here. The problem, obviously, is actually having determination and the right mindset to do it, which is another thing entirely, but for some reason people here love to shit on this method itself as if it's impossible. If you're not committed then even N is gonna be impossible for you.

For some reason, I feel that the ligatures used are thinner and flatter, which assists in hanging. I've also considered that using a very short ligature for partial might decrease the chance of failure since it will allow for less involuntary movement after going unconscious.

It's not at all. People just over think it on this forum as understandably they want the least discomfort. You have to think all these celebs probably suffered for a minute or 2 but that's better than a lifetime of suffering.
I think most hanging failed attempts are cries for help.

I don't know how much space was between the prison cell window and the floor of his cell.

I guess they're no longer including this part in reporting on the steps took to hang himself but when the story first broke this detail was publicly revealed; Hernandez placed a thick soap and water paste underneath his cell window, the spot where his feet would touch the floor so that his feet would not gain any traction as he was hanging himself.

I guess this is in line with people who heavily sedated themselves and tie their hands behind their backs before hanging themselves because they want to give themselves zero percent chance of survival.

Most fail because people don't know what the fuck they're doing and choose the most ineffective method like OD in the heat of the moment and/or they don't actually expect to die and do it as a cry for help.
