Now that you mention it that would be weird if there is a god and he sits back watching a serial killer or terrorist kill tons of people and does nothing till the killer dies and then sends them to hell. Why not stop it before it happens.

Lol "because he wants to teach us good people lessons" is what the church would say. Those people killed by terrorists were sacrificed for YOUR learning! Don't you feel special now?

I use to know a guy that was a close friend. We we argue a lot, but seeing as how we had become friends at a young age, and under special circumstances, I remained friends with him for way too long. He's from the South in the US. Total Bible Belt South. He would try to control everything and everyone with his Christianity. He had a great memory for the Bible, and could quote it to no end. And do you know...surprise.....it ALWAYS forced everything and everyone to do what he wanted. What made him happy. No matter what it was the Bible commands you to do what is just by coincidence what he wants. And you couldn't argue. And you couldn't be mad at him. It was God telling you, not him. Meanwhile he go into more trouble, and did the worse things, of anyone I knew. But he was forgiven, and no one could take issue with him, because he only answered to God. It's a pretty good racket, if you see what it was made for, and how to play it.

My hope is that God just allowed free will here so he decided not to intervene. Which unfortunately turned out badly for a lot of us.

I am a buddhist and karmic consequences of suicide on the afterlife is one of my main fears against comitting suicde. A few ago's i was abusing MDMA and my brain was getting fried and there where these dark demonic shadowy beings just everywhere in my rroom trying to posess and drag me down to hell.

Some months later I good hell realms the first picture contained the beings trying to drag me down there and posess my body. The most enlightened women told me that the karma of killing yourself is the same as killing another. And then she told me "Alexander you're going to hell".

When I was in psyc ward I manage go smuggle in heroin and I took a large dose of curiosity and hallucinated being complete surround of Angel of death with black wings welcoming me to hell.

I also have an enlightened friend who saved one of her friends that had comitted suicide and was beingg pulled down to hell in the bardo-
I am Buddhist as well. How do you know she was enlightened and that she saved her friend?

How can something that is immaterial (a delusion) be reborn and how this does happen exactly? I know the buddhist mythology but it has the same problem als all religions: it simply cannot be proven.

I used to have sympathy for buddhism untill I realized it's nothing more than a more sophisticated version of theism. Living according to a certain code might help, meditation does help for many and I like the pessimistic outlook on life (life is indeed suffering) but the whole concept of karma is unprovable hogwash.

Thought are produced/reborn all the time, but you can't define thoughts as material. You cannot even prove to another person that thoughts exist, but we all know they do because we experience them in our minds all the time.
I am Buddhist as well. How do you know she was enlightened and that she saved her friend?

I don't know if she saved her friend she just told me she saw he was saved by one of padmasambhavas bardo helpers when she performed a puja for him. She expresses all the qualities of enlightment, which includes íncredible compassion and clairvoyance bordering on omniscience. . Her father in law is the most respected and renowned western buddhist teacher in the world and she grew up yogi style with her mother practicing tantra in caves in India and other places around the world. There are many steps of enlightenment called bhumi's. You can be enlightened without being a fully perfected Buddha which is called Buddhahood. A bodhisattava residing on the of the 12 bhumi's is also fair to call enlightened but not a buddha.

Here is a prophecy from the 5th Karmapa(1384–1415) to what would happen to China and Tibet in the life of the 16th Karmapa (August 14, 1924 – November 5, 1981)

"From now on, in the successive Karmapas the turning point will be the 16th, same as the 17th, the general Buddha Dharma including the Karma Kagyu doctrine will be like horseflies at the end of the season. 21 The line of the sky-appointed emperors of the East will end. Any outsider will try to take over that country. Faraway invaders will flood in from the east and the north. Tibet will be encircled in a ring. The reign of the king of central Tibet will come to an end.

Whatever you do will be considered wrong. Those to whom you speak will contradict you. Good conduct will vanish and the bad will abound. The moving machines of the faraway invaders will fly in the sky, watching over the land. When such bad conditions are happening, no happiness or peace of mind shall be found. Even then, do not succumb to the agony. Never be separated from the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha22. Remain in the hidden places and practise Mahamudra!"

"Central Tibet will be in a state of warfare, and its government will fall. Many faraway invaders not previously there will suddenly cover the land in great numbers. People will be deceived by evil in these bad times. They will take no interest in the dharma while consumed by suffering. Everywhere – be it in the upper, middle, or lower parts – there will be fighting everywhere. A flow of blood will spring forth from the battlefields. Due to these disputes, agitation and fighting, a place of harmony and happiness will not be found. Because of poverty and forced labour, a place of riches and ease will not be found. Due to torture and imprisonment, a place of liberty will not be found. "

Needless to say the sky-appointed emporers of China did come to an end with the Communist revolution by Mao. China was also invaded by Russia from the North and Japan from the easy.

Tibet was encircled in a ring and subjected to a bloodbath. the reign of the king of central Tibet did come to an end(The Dalai Lama). He mentions flying machines from invaders will fly over Tibet, I take this to mean airplanes.

I am not out to convert people to buddhism, I simply share what I believe and what I have experienced in the same way atheists or anyone else do.

Hell doesn't exist. Just trust me on that one. Whoever invented the concept of Hell and burning for all eternity for not stroking some douche-bag God enough must have been a disgusting person. Imagine how many innocent people have spent countless hours like you have over some make-believe tormentor. If God exists and is all-loving, then sending people to Hell wouldn't be in His nature.

Whoever came up with the idea of Hell is worthy of the flames of Hell himself.

In buddhism, Buddha did not create the hells nor does he condem them to there, he saw through his omniscience that it is one of the 6 realms of samsara and it is very negative karma that brings you there. In his own tale of his former lives it was his own compassionate actions in the hell realm that started his journey towards buddhahood.

If people believe in notions of heavens or "happy endings" after death due to goodness, why is difficult to believe in "unhappy" endings for people like Hitler or all the other "evil" people in history?

I'm an atheist and I still have that fear from being raised religious. It's this sort of "what if you're wrong" thought process. I hate it because I know logically it isn't true

Although, OP was there in January last time, I will still reply.
I think hell would not be able to exist because everybody would go to hell, we are all sinful.
Many people continued to believe in God only because they were afraid of hell.
Fear of eternal sorrow and pain is what stops people from breaking these bonds.
If God is love, why would he judge?
Why would make us be in agony?
That is not fair.
If we want to liberate ourselves from struggles, why make us struggle again?
Nothing is black and nothing is white, there are many other shades...
