I honestly have no idea what recovery looks like, and have never thought of it in those terms. But today I got off my fat arse and went running. Run-walking actually, so as not to croak. Started 5k training, which was painful—not because it was difficult, but because it makes me sad to see how far I'd let things go. Year and a half ago I was routinely running half marathons as part of training. During the first year of Covid I'd completed a full marathon. Oh well. I will get there again!

Oh, why is this recovery—maybe? Because to run is to believe in yourself. And to complete 42.1k is to accomplish something not many do, never mind after 50. Not bad.

I think it might be the first step to recovery and for things turn around. I hope you continue to make progress. And I'm glad to know that you're trying. It's never too late. I wish you the best.
