honestly what do are they thinking by threatening legal action against suicidal people? especially since many, myself included, are extremely careful to avoid giving any advice or comments that could be seen as aiding in suicide, what do they think we will do when we get charged for saying "i'm sorry you're in pain, i hope you find peace" to a stranger expressing suffering? do they think about the fact that we are already on the verge of death and that may well be what pushes us over? i dont think i've said or done anything that could be considered criminal under that act but if they come for me one day then that will be the day i don't wait another second to execute my plan

The way I see it is the uk death sentence is to make you suffer every single day and every single second in hell until you die of old age.

Tbh I've been watching documentaries of prisoners in prison in Russia and they all act like robots. No heating. Shit food and monitored 24/7 but I mean that is just awful and once behind bars (which we already are) there is no way out

I've never seen any contemporary or historical evidence of suicide attempts being punishable by death. Fines, imprisonment, excommunication, yes - no law would ever be punishable by means in direct opposition to the cultural/moral position that is one of, if not the sole, reason for that law in the first place. I.e. if suicide is criminal due to so-called sanctity of life (from a theological perspective), it makes zero sense socioculturally for the punishment for that crime to be put to death. We are profoundly stupid, but not that profoundly stupid.

True, but among ancient things that were written down, rules of law tend to rank pretty significantly. I admit to knowing almost nothing of ancient Islamic law, but a cursory attempt to find info pertaining to this in Sharia or older codes yields nothing.

That doesn't mean that some people in a given society may never have collectively executed someone who was accused of attempting suicide. But there is a difference between vigilantism and law.
