but everytime I try to hang myself, my head I feel like it's going to explode and nothing happens. I've read here that is because I'm doing it wrong, but is this noose the best way to do it?

Hangman's noose isn't really good for anything other than long drop where the goal would be to break your neck. For other purposes a simple slipknot should do just fine.
