Do you need to explain it to your family? I thought about saying, if I really need to explain to someone (maybe a public servant?), that I have plans to prepare my own meat and such, because I have a friend who knows about that kind of things (a lie, of course). If that someone is something like a coworker or a flatmate and they don't know what is coming, I would simply say that it's personal, they know how to care about their own business.

It probably depends of how much information they have already, how much authority and/or love they have over you. It's not the same to explain it to a stranger than to your mother

It's been quite a while so I think it's gone.
The packaging says sodum nitrite sadly. I told them it was for meat curing.

- pro lifers are going out of their way to restrict as much of the peaceful methods as possible. There may not be a day in the future where relatively peaceful methods like SN would be available to us so I will take my chances as soon as I can.

Do you have a close confidante that would allow you to ship your next order to their place? That would mitigate your family members coming into contact with it when it arrives again. It'll be on their radar now, especially if they decided to look up what people are using it for.
