and gradually becoming more disabled/fucked up.
(is this a shitpost? i dunno, just a vent maybe. screaming into the void.
maybe i'll inspire a fellow crip to point their hatred to the arbiters of our suffering, sleepy as i am right now.)
thinking about the fact that there is absolutely the net resources to either cure or at least ameliorate almost every physical/medical condition, and/or improve the living conditions of those who's conditions cant be cured.
humans have figured out how to do a shit ton of previously unthinkable things. instead of spending resources on keeping people alive and healthy, we (they) blow money on weapons, private spaceships, building empires to inflate the egos of those who already have more than they could ever truly need.
meanwhile the rest of us struggle to access basics. people in underdeveloped nations can't get medical treatments that are routine elsewhere in the world. someone can live a full, unimpeded life with HIV in their body if they live in the west, but people are dying en masse from it in other places.
and that's to say nothing of the horrendous attitude of the vile wretches who seem drawn to the medical profession. why do so many of them seem to hate human beings? or completely unable to see past their giant fucking egos? how many of us have had our conditions made worse in trying to seek care (and for some, paying for this no less)?
i imagine for most of us there would have been less suffering living in a time/place when medical knowledge was limited to local town healers who just threw this or that at whatever ailment. at least there would have been a sense of care, a lack of knowledge that the resources to fix our problems EXIST but are just outside our reach for whatever reason.
in a capitalist system, the purpose of healthcare is not to make people healthy, but to turn a profit.
how can you make money when people are well? you can't. so keep them sick/make them sicker.
