Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I know i keep talking about this, but I just need to get it out, even if no one replies. So, with the eye thing, I obviously have been doing it today. For some reason, I like when people ask what happened to my eye—I like the attention and worry I get from it. It's also for me, the easiest way to self harm. It's easy to do, and its easy to make up an excuse for it. The problem is though, when I hit it—it only hurts for a few seconds, 30 at max, before it numbs again. Because of that it makes me want to hit myself more because im not satisfied if it won't make my eye better or I dont feel the pain for longer. Sorry that I keep posting about this.

It sounds like this falls somewhere in between self-harm and Munchausen's Syndrome. Self harm is more about the pain, and Munchausen's is more about the attention and sympathy that are received, and is often about getting treatment for the self inflicted injuries, but not always.

That's not what Munchausen's is. Munchausen's (now known as Factitious disorder), is intentionally faking an illness/disorder, sometimes accompanied by inflicting harm on oneself to mimic symptoms. People with Factitious disorder will often seek out multiple doctors to attempt to get a diagnosis, or just tell people they have something with no proof. It is said to be done to garner sympathy, but some people do fake disorders without a particular motivation or desire for care. Kind of how a compulsive liar will sometimes just lie with no motive. It's a mental disorder end of the day. But you can't "fake" self-harm; you either are self-harming or you aren't.

It is very common to self-harm as a bid for attention or a cry for help. God knows I've done that. Please don't try to speak on disorders or mental health behaviors you don't have proper knowledge of. This is spreading misinformation. It is not helpful (and I would argue actively causes harm) to tell a person who is self-harming as a cry for help that they have Factitious disorder.

And OP, just so you know, that is not something you should be ashamed of. You are clearly hurting, and want that hurt to be acknowledged in a way people can physically see. I hope you're able to get the care you need without causing your body harm. It is likely you are going to cause some kind of permanent damage to your eye with the severity and frequency of which you're doing this. Please reach out to someone; you don't need to do this is receive help. And make sure to get your eye checked out if you start to notice it affecting your vision. Wishing you the best <3
