it's becoming more and more clear to me that we come from apes, seeing how stupid most people are.
and as the title says, humans really have an extremist problem.
they have a hard time seeing nuances, and only stick to black and white.
like with politics for example...

if someone chooses to affiliate themselves with whatever political side they relate the most to,
then they will suddenly throw away all individuality and stop thinking for themselves,
because now they have "found their group".
and whatever the group says, they will adopt as their own true opinion, when it's not what they think deep down.

and that goes for everything in life, pretty much.
it's stupid. no integrity.

and such a mentality can cause serious problems in society, anything from wars to... just ANYTHING.

also relating to sanctioned suicide and laws surrounding that, even if people are permanently suffering.

I agree. This is generally the issue i have with the idea of left and right, or having two sides in general. People, once they affiliate themselves with one side, will agree with "all" the views on that side, while not actually doing their own research and contemplating what they really think. There are clips online of MAGA-supporters who will agree with a random law/idea, simply because the interviewer claims that it belongs to Trump, while this is not the case (though it could be about any politician).

Especially in a two party system, people get bound to one side. Like you write, there doesn't seem to be any room for nuance. Unfortunately not everyone has the time/energy(/sometimes mental capacity) to put into following politics, and will go along with whatever ideas. Extremist ideas are usually more "clear" and easy to follow (if you lack critical thinking). It leads to more polarization (often portraying the "other side" as the root for all issues) and, as you write, as mentality basically causes all serious problems in society.

Aside from politics, it's also kind of similar with using social media no? Often people will go along with what they see online, and the algorithm will make the feed more and more extremer. Or simply consume without actually thinking about what theyre watching, mindlessly liking it and continuing to scroll.

Tribalism infects everything. People keep choosing a team... political side, religion, employment, social clique, sports team, etc. etc. etc. Once you sign up for a group you are expected to always think and do and want the same as everyone else in that group AND hate all other groups. If your teammate does it, it's awesome... if the other team does the same, it is evil and must be stopped!

Far too many people think and run their lives this way. Sadly, many don't even realize this is what they are doing.
