What are some ways to stop yourself feeling the need to have someone to be there for you?

I want to get some work done without feeling too anxious but I can't because I feel very helpless and alone.

Was never like this until I had a breakdown during my internship.

I think you were smart to come here 1st. And, 2nd, I think recognizing your desire to be around people is not a negative.

You're not needy. You're a soulful, loving human. TV helps curb my unmet need for interaction. Not saying it's a totally positive influence, but it does do the trick for me.

Also, poke around the SS forum for a while and get involved in some chats. That usually yields some pretty quick back-and-forth.

Music...anti-anxiety meds...journaling l, EXERCISING (I NEVER have the discipline to do these last two when I'm craving interaction).

Also, I often distract myself from loneliness by playing trivia games on a site called Sporcle.com/.

I don't recommend using porn or food as stop-gaps for intimacy; I have done both.

I admire your foresight in coming here to address your unmet need for people contact. That is smart!

TV sounds like a good idea. But there isn't much programme over here in my country so maybe I have to use Youtube as an alternative.

I tend to visit SS forum when I feel lonely but I guess I should hang out here more often.

Anti-anxiety meds. I don't have access to new ones. I think the ones I have have already expired. Need to see a psychiatrist to get them but my dad doesn't want me to see one.

Exercise... I can't find motivation to do that.

I hear you on the exercise. i never want to do that. YouTube is a treasure trove of entertainment. Comedy routines are helpful. What else.... interviews with your favorite stars. Answers to questions you've never gotten...

Internships are very stressful. There are many other SS'ers who've talked about taxing internships on this site. If you felt up to talking about what happened at your internship, the people on this site would surely have words of support for you...you know, to help you work through this traumatic event.

I can totally relate to how you're feeling. I absolutely loathe feeling this way or wanting to be connected to others. I would like to kill that part of me so much. I'm tired of being disappointed.

i feel this all the time. im like a lonely and depressed extrovert. but i have two younger sisters, so i usually just go and bug them when im feeling this way lol. But itll help ease with school right around the corner.

Same here. Keep getting disappointed but still hopes to be able to connect with someone

Internships are very stressful. There are many other SS'ers who've talked about taxing internships on this site. Actually now the one I am really stressed about are two major school projects
i feel this all the time. im like a lonely and depressed extrovert. but i have two younger sisters, so i usually just go and bug them when im feeling this way lol. But itll help ease with school right around the corner.
I have a brother too. I bug him when I feel that. Sadly he has to work and therefore I can't disturb him all the time

It's weird for me. I feel so lonely yet at the same time realize that I can't be satisfied with connecting with people as they're sometimes more trouble than they're worth so I find myself in the middle of wanting human interaction and not.
But to respond to your query I suppose you could try picking out a few good people to talk to from here. Might be a bit more personal than posting a thread and I feel it could be more helpful. Movies, shows, music, exploring an imaginary world in your head: I've found these to be useful at one point or another to varying degrees. Food too!!
I'm sorry you're in the spot you're in. Hope you can get out of it soon
