So I know we're all pro-dying-asap here, but I'm having an issue with someone who I believe to be young and naive. I don't know them personally, but my friend asked me for advice.

His online internet pal said they're going to down a bottle of pills if things don't go well with a counselor. That's a real bad method. We know that, they know that. They even said that. They know it's not an efficient method and they have access to a shotgun.

I'm pretty sure this person is a kid and still lives with their dad. I don't think people should attempt suicude until they have a decent grasp on their life, and even then the suicude should be well planned out and not as sudden and loosey goosey as this.

They muted my friends DM's and didn't want to be talked out of it. I guess I could DM them, but I don't think anything I'd say would really mean anything. And you know Suicidal lol

Any advice I can tell my friend?

Tl;Dr Kid threatening suicide by downing pill bottle. Any advice? Asking for a friend.

Call for wellness check or whatever your country has that is equivalent. If this is a fit of pique/attention seeking, it may well scare them out of doing it again.

Would it help or hurt the situation if you informed this kid's father of the kid's plan to commit suicide?

I don't know how dire your friend's situation is as far as his mental health or his desire to die. I don't know if his father is not a nice guy and would only throw him in a psych ward and only further this kid's pain and problems.

But if his father is a caring parent and this kid is acting on impulse and if the kid hadn't given getting quality help a chance then his father should be made aware of what's going on.

It really is cruel to just check out while having a loving parent who has no idea that there is a problem.

The only upside I see is that if he fails maybe his father would be able to get him some professional help. Of course your friend may fail but do damage to himself by attempting suicide with pills.

If his father cares about what's going on with his son then see if you can inform him about this kid's plan.
