How to make a passage on the top of a door?

you know, so that the rope does not get jammed from the above. partial hanging.
whats the easiest and cheapest way to do the job

Hammer and chisel???? You could use an electric rotary tool with a cutting bit, also. Also, you could use a file. You could use some type of small hand saw, too. Lots of ways. Not 100% sure why you need to do this, though.
