I wouldn't want to feel pain while being broken and splattered on the floor. How high would one need to be for instant death? What are things that can get in the way of survival (i.e. wind/trees)?

I have the same question but i think nobody can be sure about how much pain and what can interfere when you are jumping...

There's no guarantee, as there have been skydiving accidents where people survived, and times where someone died from tripping over a rug. It's ultimately up to chance, but there's a thread that lists minimum height. You can try the search feature. You might have to go into desktop mode on your browser to make it work if you're on a mobile device.
As far as pain, well, no one can really say, because they're dead.

I have been planning to go with jumping too. There's really no telling on pain, you just can't know if you'll die on impact, people tell to jump head first but it's really hard to control how you land. In regards of things that can get in your way try to choose a spot with not much vegetation and also pay attention if cars tend to go there, landing on a car could not only save your life but also injure other people.
Try to look for local newspaper articles of people killing themselves by jumping, they tend to write about those attempts often, that's how I've been looking for bridges that are eligible.

I believe someone here attempted that method too and survived. You might want to know the person's experience.

Edit: here's the thread. https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/i-jumped-off-a-bridge-and-survived.73417/

My ex boyfriend was a nurse and He told me its depend. You are more likely to die from a heart attack than the impact itself (of course depending on height). Also the wind can make big cuts on your body.

Honestly jumping is one method I'd never even consider trying. It seems very likely that it could go wrong and result in a lot of suffering.

If you pick a tall enough building/cliff, death is 99% guaranteed but overcoming your SI and actually jumping is the hard part

I am sorry we dont talk anymore :(

But, if its helps, there is a Japanese book that explains in detail how to commit suicide and each method (how much pain, how to do, how "ugly" you'll be etc)
