I'm actually in a really good mood today so no suicidal posts for the time being!

I notice that a lot of the people on this forum tend to be mid-lennials or elder gen z(1994-2000), I usually thought that people who are more suicidal tend to be younger (NOT AT ALL saying that you aren't allowed to be depressed when you're older, but I notice a lot of suicidal recovery videos and testimonies tend to have had suicidal ideations when they were teenagers or young children but started getting into remission in their early 20s and moved on to live a "stable" life)

Just wanna know how old you guys are? I was born in the mid 2000s (vague for privacy reasons but I'm in my late teens and a college freshman) and I've been suicidal since I was 9 years old since I got bullied for being neurodivergent and lived in an unstable home with parents who didn't really raise me properly and I'm traumatized from it.

I'd like to think that these thoughts would disappear but for me they just kind of go into hibernation.
I'm a 1960s born male. First serious plan to CTB at about 16 (back then we had to use library books... and rotary dial phones...)
That was a really serious plan with almost all details worked out and means at hand.
Then again a few times in my 30s.
And now serious again in my upper 50s

Will I? Hard to know. Maybe the seasons will change and send those thoughts into hibernation. Or me into no more.

I'd joke about being born in 2007 but I'd risk losing the account lol. (I'm obviously an adult.)

It's pretty easy to look up statistics and see that the opposite is true: the chance of suicide increases with age. From the CDC website:
Suicidestats

People who actually post here and remain around to keep posting seem younger. Probably not that many 80 year olds spend their days on internet forums

Do you see in sepia effect?

Actually yes.

Sometimes I feel like I'm not so old, but then my father recently told me this was the car I was driven home from the hospital in the day I was born. That's wild.

Makes sense to me older people are the largest group here. We're no longer employable, we're running out of $$$, our spouses/siblings are also dying off, our kids/grandkids (if we have them) don't have time for us, our ability/health is in decline, and we don't want to be in a nursing home. lots of reasons. my mom CTB when she was 50. i'm 62 now. she's been dead more than 1/2 my life now and i've outlived her already by 12 years. looking back on it, 50 is still pretty young, esp. if you don't have kids/family and are less encumbered. wow. life just flies by.

This is a rough poll for someone born at the end of 79.
