How much whisky would it take to kill you, assuming 40% alcohol and drinking it all within an hour?

Likely more than you'd be able to drink before you pass out or throw up. Alcohol isn't what will kill you anyway, most alcohol related deaths are from choking on ones own vomit or from long term liver failure It's not a reliable way to ctb and leaves a lot of risk in regards to being found and suffering brain damage etc. With Liver failure it's slow lingering and painful.

Idk but that isn't a way you want to die. Alcohol poisoning isn't fun at all. I've seen people drink that for years and they still haven't died. Only one of them shows signs of liver damage.

There are many factors to consider including your age, alcohol tolerance, your overall health or other comorbidities. It would be very difficult to do with only whisky and no other medications on board. It would be very painful, messy, land you in the hospital and probably not effective.

So if I drank, say, a litre of whisky, what would happen? I read somewhere that you'd be likely to die within about 8 hours. And with any luck, I'd be unconscious long before that. Wouldn't I just go to sleep and never wake up?

Anyone got any idea how much I could drink before I became unconscious?

It's likely you'd wake up the next morning with a dreadful hangover. You might wet the bed or puke in your blankets. Alcohol alone is not reliable for your purposes.

you will feel absolutely terrible immediately after drinking it, your throat will burn, your stomach will literally want to turn inside out and your hearth will race.

eventually, you will throw up, and it will be both nasty and painful.
if you throw up immediately after drinking it then your body will recover after a day or two if you keep hydrated, but if you hold it or take it slowly you are in for a bad time, you'll pass out and vomit while unconscious. the moment you wake up will be horrible, headaches from a normal hangover can't compare to it, the walls will begin to spin and you will get nausea from just breathing... alcohol poisoning is just horrible.

i know this because i was an alcoholic, and i used it to self harm in a way, i remember drinking something like 750 ml of vodka and my experience was just like the second one i described.
if it didn't killed me with an ill and fragile body then i guess that you need to be really lucky in order to die from it.

there are better methods.

1.On September 25 1980, Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham died after drinking over one liter of vodka. He died choking on his own vomit. He was 32 years old.

2.Country musician Keith Whitley died of alcoholism on May 9, 1989. His blood alcohol level was .47 at the time of his death. Whitley was 34 years old.
