I am not sure. Common sense is often related to intuition. And my intuition can be deceving.

I was pretty right though in catastrophizing many social interactions recently. It is not a bug its a feature.

In politics populists argue with common sense positions. But reality is more complex.

This is my contribution. Nothing sophisticated but I am interested in the replies.

Maybe it also depends which idea of man one has.

I definitely believe in intuition. We are animals ultimately so- if something feels a bit off, I think it pays to take notice of that. I've suffered after not following random and seemingly illogical thoughts/ feelings sometimes. Now, I usually listen to my senses.

That said- over things like politics, I wouldn't have the first clue because they lie about so much! How can we ever be sure we are getting the full picture? That's kind of the sad truth really. That so many turn out to be corrupt, they give the rest of them a bad reputation.

Sometimes, I can be totally wrong too. I stupidly trust first impressions and face value sometimes- when I shouldn't.

I suppose I see common sense as different to intution though. I see intuition more as an instinctual feeling about something or someone. Whereas common sense I see more as someone who is practically minded. eg. Don't use the lifts in a fire.

Also- people who are resourceful and keep a clear head under pressure. So- they think outside the box I suppose. Not necessarily because they were taught something but because they can come up with a practical solution in a pinch. For example, there was a story of someone caught in a rip tide and at danger of drowning. A guy on the beach had the idea to use a drone to fly out and drop an inflatable to them. It's been so highly praised that they are thinking to use it in future as a potential life saving tool.

In my experience "common sense" has always been weaponized against me by neurotypicals to mean basically the exact opposite of my intuition. So no I don't believe in the validity of common sense. And I don't believe personal intuition = common sense. Common sense quite literally just means sense-making that is the most common.
