How long should you wait to CTB after a friend or family member has?

Hello, in a previous post I talked about my brother committing suicide. I'd prefer not to get into many details, but of course, my family and some mutual friends are extremely broken up about it. However, it's gotten in the way of being able to commit. It doesn't feel fair to put everyone through another suicide with how recent the last has been, even if I'm not super close to anyone anymore.

How long should I wait before I attempt? Thank you.

I don't think time is gonna change anything, your family is gonna be grieving over you as much or even more than your brother either way. That's my take on the topic at least.

I just think that it's a personal decision deciding when to leave this world, I don't think that anyone is obligated to stay here and suffer if they don't wish to. The fact is that grief and loss are inevitable as long as one exists here and we all have to cease existing someday.

You should make that decision based on when you yourself are ready, not based on how others will react.

Thanks for all the replies. It means a lot. Seeing how everyone acted when my brother did it, just makes me scared of hurting people again.
