I have been on Zoloft for about over a year. I was on 25ml for the first few months, increased to 50 for 3 months, and then weaned down to 25. I got the ok to stop 3 days ago from my psychiatrist. She told me if I feel off in any way to let her know ASAP. I have experienced dizziness, headaches, and a desire to vomit. Despite this I am able to go about my day (exercise, school, etc). I am inclined to reach out to her but don't want to since she has always made me feel uncomfortable (telling me I have no reason to be depressed) and I just don't want to be on any more meds.

I am thinking of waiting these feelings out. How long would it take for normalcy?

I really recommend if you are on Facebook to go on the FB groups for weaning off SSRIS. There are groups about Zoloft. One of them is called 'Zoloft should be illegal' and they will have advice. There is another one called the Positive Zoloft Support Group!

Your psychiatrist sounds if you don't mind me saying somewhat clueless. People have depression all the time for no particular reason. It's an illness.

you've been given some information about zoloft support groups. I dont know about zoloft. Try a google search as well, you might find some information there. I'm sorry it's causing you problems stopping it. I think you need a different therapist. I'm sorry but your therapist doesn't sound kind and caring. I hope you are feeling better soon and the effects from stopping it is gone very soon.

It's an individual thing. I simply quit Zoloft cold turkey with no withdrawal symptoms. (I've never had withdrawal symptoms from any prescribed medication.)

On zoloft and took my first dose of Wellbutrin today. I don't think I will be able to stay on Wellbutrin, it made me feel so dizzy and sick. Bad enough I have to take it in the morning, don't think I'd be able to work while on it. The zoloft I haven't had any side effects and I've been on it for a few months now.

How can a psychiatrist tell someone they have no reason to be depressed? What an idiot..

You probably have these symptoms since you stopped taking it completely straight away. It's usually if not always better to reduce it step by step (idk why you weren't told this by your psychiatrist, maybe because the dose is already quite low). So these symptoms don't always happen but it's not something unnatural after 3 days. It takes more than 3 days for Zoloft to leave your system. Usually around 5-6 days. And individually it varies how long your body adapts and stabilizes after it has left your body or if you'll keep having withdrawal symptoms (it varies a lot individually). I would give it about 2 weeks after you stop taking it in this case, if you still feel these symptoms you should contact her then. If the symptoms get worse however you should contact her immediately.

To be honest I think it's very possible for the majority off peoplevto baseline from 50 mg inside month but if you're still having a hard time go to 25mg then 25 eod if necessary.
