Hello valued humans. I have a question some may be able to answer. I am thinking about VSED. I know it's considered a non method by most, but I think it's beautiful in one respect. It's a last excruciating act of defiance against this horrible existence. One can view it as a religious act of divinity. The perfect way of transcending the human condition. That being said I wonder how long you can realistically stay alive dry fasting. I myself got to day 3 once. I thing I started to experience hallucinations or something of that kind. Your thoughts? How long can you realistically go? Any experiences you want to share? I would really appreciate your thoughts.

i dry fasted for maybe 20 hours, unintentionally, until i felt thirsty enough to drink water during a regular extended water fast. the thirst at that point was unbearable which is how i remembered to put something in my mouth that was zero calories when i felt otherwise repulsed by consuming anything.

3 days is extremely impressive

Interesting. Well I experimented quite a lot with VSED to be honest. In my experience thirst sort of peaks after the first 20-24 hours. Brushing your teeth without water sort of helps for me. Did you eat shortly after drinking or were you still unable to consume food? When I break the drinking part I usually start to eat also. Unless I purposefully only stop eating and drink normally. The only stop eating thing I could sustain for almost two weeks last summer. I drank alcohol though so I don't know if that counts.

Thanks Human but actually I knew about that post. I think one human answered who also stopped drinking. The original post is about one who stopped eating and his incredible journey. I wanted to know if there are more experiences with dry fasting specifically. Maybe some additional humans have knowledge.

no i kept going with my regular water fast for another 2 days. the fasts i did weren't really suicidal, just anorexic, but i accepted the risk that i could die. the longest i went on 0-5 liquid calories a day was 6 days. I tried to go for another 8 days after breaking it but stopped on day 4 because of a caffeine overdose lol.

a caloric liquid fast would take months to kill a healthy person. even dry fasting has some ridiculous records. i personally think it's a total nonmethod for most people but i respect the commitment

I really like toothpaste 🥲

The classic caffeine overdose. 6 days is quite long. Mine almost 12 were sort of in mourning of my beloved cat that just had died. Stopping to eat is kind of a coping mechanism for me. You may relate to that feeling I guess. Only recently I started to explore the possibility of using this habit for ctb. But I think you are right. Even dry fasting may take too long. And if you are unlucky you might end up in a psych ward and get force fed and hydrated. That's no fun. I've just been in one of these "institutions" against my will because I told someone I know too much of my suicidal thoughts. Thankfully I got released. Well. I guess I need to find another preferred method. But I'll keep experimenting. It's honestly interesting to feel yourself drying up. For example the little urin you produce (really not that much) somehow gets incredibly concentrated and sort of dark^^. Anyhow thanks for the input. I'll find something better if I don't succeed in my next experiments.

i 100% relate to fasting as a coping mechanism. for me, it's closely tied with anxiety making me lose my appetite. any little thing like a presentation or a confrontation would trigger the impulse and make me feel stronger in the face of the situation, upcoming or just happened. i'm sorry about your cat, even if it was long ago. i haven't had any pets die on me before, but i imagine i'll relapse into these behaviors pretty severely again if i'm around to witness it. i hope you can find a comfortable method, whatever it ends up being :)
