I imagine full suspension has a high success rate. All you need a rope that will support your weight, not break, a post that will support your weight and more (and that is taller than you), tying the knots securely, and not being found in time.

Does anyone know what the success rate for partial is? Assuming you use the proper ligature, knots, and support? My only concern is convulsing into a position that relieves the pressure of the noose. What are the chances of that happening?

My preferred method is full but partial is a backup if I'm unable to find something to do full suspension on.

They are equally as effective. What's important is that everything is tightened properly and 100% secure.

Doing Position 3 in a chart somewhere around here is recommended, it minimizes the chances of failing the attempt because of convulsing.

I read around here that the kneeling position is easier to back out from. Position 3 is where you just extend your legs forward to achieve partial suspension.

oh, so you just mean that it's more difficult to back out from? What does that have to do with convulsions though? They happen either way. Why does position 3 minimize chance of failure?

That's one of the main reasons. But if I think about it, taking into consideration the convulsions, it would be better to do it this way. With the legs extended, it would be unlikely for convulsions to alter this position to a point where pressure is reduced or relieved. I watched a video of a succesful attempt (forgot if it was position 3) before, assuming that the ligature, knot, and support are good, chances are very high.

It's based on a discussion with that method. I once saved the link of the thread but couldn't find it now.

I've wondered about convulsions having that type of effect. I raised my noose higher just in case. Wish I had a phone so I could show you guys. I don't see how they could interfere. I'm lying on my belly with my head in the noose and facing the floor. Even in the event that my body were to thrash all around and my arms move around......even if my arms somehow end up below my face, there's still enough room for my neck to dangle freely

What I wonder is if the ligature, knot and support are good, and no one will find you for 24-48 hours.........how could you possibly fail?

Yes, as long as no one will suddenly drop by out of the blue and the spot/room has a lot of privacy, chances are really high.

Me too man, but in hanging, I guess that bad ending usually just happens because you have been "saved"

That's the least of my worries. I won't be found for 1-2 days. So unless my head just magically comes out of that noose.......

I'm thinkin' maybe tying your legs and hands would help? I mean, if your hands are tied behind your back you can't unconsciously free yourself from the rope. And if your legs are tied you can't really get up.

IDK, I kinda wanna try partial, just out of curiosity since there's so much talk about it. I tried pulling the rope with my hands, then releasing and I get a light version of this siphon effect like on that video https://sanctioned-suicide.net/thre...nterested-in-partial-suspension-hanging.2674/
It feels really good... now I understand why auto erotic asphyxiation is a thing xD

If you faint from the siphon effect with a rope around your neck is it possible to come back around? The video on partial suspension makes it look so easy

I'm a bit scared of choking to death. I'd decide to keep a knife and scissors in my pocket in case.

Is a guarantee of not being discovered for 7 hours enough or too risky?
