I remembered Robin Williams hung himself with a nylon belt, it was partial hanging aswell. From a doorkob. Like how did he achieve that within the 40 minutes his wife left and housekeeper arrived? I've heard it's REALLY difficult to hang yourself with a belt, let alone partial hanging...

Just amazed how some people manage to successfully ctb while I've survived something I shouldn't have and am studying sasu like my life depends on it (well death in this case).

I have a nylon moving strap. Would that work?

The grim details

Boyd said Williams was last seen alive at 10:30 p.m. Sunday when his wife, Susan Schneider, went to bed the night before; she left the house Monday around 10:30 a.m. thinking he was still asleep in his room. His personal assistant became concerned about 11:45 a.m. Monday, Boyd said, after Williams failed to answer knocks at his door.

The assistant eventually managed to open the door and found Williams clothed, in a seated position and "with a belt secured around his neck, with the other end of the belt wedged between the clothes closet door and the door frame," Boyd said. "His right shoulder area was touching the door, with his body perpendicular to the door and slightly suspended."

Williams was "cold to the touch," Boyd said, and rigor mortis had set in. Forensic scientists say it takes three or four hours for rigor mortis to begin after death.

Investigators found superficial cuts on the inside of Williams' left wrist, and recovered a pocketknife with its blade closed and what looked like dried blood on it, Boyd said. The cause of death was "asphyxia due to hanging," according to preliminary results of an autopsy. Williams' children did not mention their father's depression or his struggles with chemical dependency, but Zelda made reference to dark times and an inability to find peace.

It seems so easy. I got an actual rope and a high anchor point and I couldn't do it, partial or full. I don't understand how these celebrities keep partial hanging themselves. Every time I try it's painful and terrifying.

how did you fail this one if i may ask?
Partial, I just gave up because it hurt too much. I wanted easy unconsciousness and it didn't come.

Full, I just never committed to it. At most I swung for a second with my hands on the rope. I just can't inflict that kind of pain on myself. Even if you do everything right you're gonna be conscious of that squeeze for like 10 seconds. I'm not tough enough.

Well atleast you tried and didn't do something as stupid as me. Like you can just go back to normal life after such attempts as though nothing happened and no one will know.

i see. wow.
just curious, so you live in like a relatively big house where it was possible to do full suspension?
i don't really see it as a possibility in an apartment, or maybe people have different definitions of "partial" vs "full".
some say as long as you have your feet above ground, even just half an inch, it still counts as a full suspension.
which could be done from a door i guess, unless someone is very tall.

There was a spot outside where I could tie high enough. There was a spot almost tall enough in the laundry room, a high bar for hanging clothes to dry, but my tiptoes touched.
Well atleast you tried and didn't do something as stupid as me. Like you can just go back to normal life after such attempts as though nothing happened and no one will know.
What did you do?

Moral of the story - NEVER jump.
What an insane story. The jumps I fantasize about are super high, zero chance of survival, but I know there's also zero chance of overcoming the fear. When I read about people who jumped off huge bridges (I'm talking ten second falls) it seems like they're another species. The sad truth is I couldn't even use a gun. My suicide method is rotting around the house dreaming of Nembutal. It's not working.

I had insomnia for 3 months then was put on an antidepressant that gave me akathisia. I couldn't stop pacing and cried out for help to my GPs and psychologist saying I was having scary suicidal thoughts I'd never experienced before. And they basically told me I'd run out of treatment options. I should've been put in a psych ward. My brain was on fire. The attempt wasn't something I sat on. Now I have life altering injuries and just want my suffering to end!

An 8 story fall should've been fatal.

It's so unfair pets get access to pentobarbital.

Mentally healthy people don't understand the kind of pain that's possible if you make a few missteps. If your mind gets on the wrong track. Very few are enlightened enough to understand that voluntary death needs to be made available.

I've been up and down the "suicides by hanging" wiki every day for months. It brought me so much comfort but I just couldn't pull it off. FFS it's a rope squeezing your neck until you die! How do you just do that to yourself?!

I read chester benningtons autopsy. Said he partial suspension hung himself from a door with a Gucci belt. It said his feet were on the floor and he was leaning forward slightly. Very small amount of alcohol in his system. Not enough to be drunk or anything. His death was a tragedy but like you said I'm also very respectful and impressed by his courage

I suppose the moral of the story is not to overthink it and just do it. It almost sounds as if the most successful hangings are spur of the moment.

Unfortunately, if you do it right, it's quick and easy. Speaking from experience. As long as you don't chicken out and untie the knot like I always do

Wait really? Are you sure? Fuck it I'm living with my parents but I'm thinking about doing it in a hotel with a door anchor but not succeeding freaks me out as I'm not gonna have too much time to keep trying it.

I don't want to be seen as encouraging. There are a lot of technical things that contribute to success. But if you place the noose right to suppress your carotids rather than jugulars it's not painful at all. Breathing is difficult but it's not for long. Tbh I don't recommend it. Idk how SN is but I have an attachment to hanging. But I've partially suspended myself multiple times and the only thing stopping me was knowing I was only practicing so I could untie the knot when passing out seemed close. I think FSH would be quite peaceful if the noose was placed right. But again. I don't want to seem like I'm encouraging you. You seem pretty dead set. Feel free to DM me if you wanna know anything about hanging. At this point I'm basically an expert

I would like to DM you but you have limited people who can see your profile, also I don't really want to do FSH since it seems even more complicated to find an anchor point and more painful, it looks very scary no way in the world I can do that.

Sorry! I'm still kinda new and idk how to change my profile. If you don't have a solid anchor point, dont bother. I don't want to be the one who helps you. But if you want to vent I'm here

Can't you just change your profile? It shouldn't be hard, just gonna look it up. I do have an anchor point, I'm thinking about doing partial hanging through a door anchor, just gonna put the door anchor through a door and gonna attach the rope into it.
