• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

If I could just know for sure! Then I could choose to live or to die and be done with this uncertainty!

I'm not sure if I understand your question, but from what I got I think you asked how to know if you could complete your purpose/dream, or if you should just give up. I suggest asking the same question in the recovery section of this forum, since they will be able to give you a positive and optimistic answer, while most here would most likely do the opposite.

As for me I suggest you give it your all to reaching your point of focus. I think that you'll be able to answer the question only when you try.

See, the problem is that for the vast majority of people there is at least a glimmer of hope, however tiny. For me, that plays a much bigger role in panic/SI before an attempt than the fear of pain and death. FOMO lol.

You'd have to try your best in "living" and then make a conclusion from there. Until you try your best and introspect from there, you'll never know

That really is it - the answer 🤔 I'm going to fail because my mental illnesses are so powerful. 😔

Do you feel like there's hope? If you do then it sounds legitimate to me. It's up to you thought to grab the reins and actually give it 100% to see if things pan out.

Unfortunately you don't. No one knows the future and therefore can't see if more or less shit, more or less happiness, is coming their way.

The key word is in your question - hope. If we have hope, then maybe we can still find a way to keep going. It's when we become totally hopeless the suicidal thoughts take over.

I suppose it comes down to probability. I think we all need to decide on what we want in life. Then, how realistic it is we'll be able to get it and if we are willing to compromise for less. But- it takes effort and resilience and I think only we know how much of either we have left.

Hope is the spark though. The motivation to consider trying. I guess none of us really know whether it's false hope. If there's any chance of getting what we want. I expect there often is a chance but it relies on the above things. You won't have a chance of winning the lottery if you don't buy a ticket! Most things in life seem to require vast amounts of effort and resilence to keep going, even if we aren't initially rewarded.

So- it kind of depends on our circumstances and what we are willing to put ourselves through. People wanting partners, careers, money need to put themselves out in the world to try and attract those things. Obviously, the probability of making friendships/ relationships increases with the more people you try to socialise with. The probability of getting a job/ career increases with the more training/ experience you get and the more jobs you appy for. Neither are guaranteed though.

Plus, we probably are suffering with various hangups that make certain things too scary/ difficult to face. For me- my sense of social anxiety is worse than feeling lonely. So- then you kind of have to decide on whether you are deliberately going to let certain things hold you back in life. I find I do it willingly now because it's the more comfortable option.

Depends on what you mean by "legitimate hope." The way I see it, hope is divided into two parts: (1) thing(s) might happen, and (2) that will make me feel better.

There's probably always some hope of (1), and there's never a guarantee that (2) will follow.

So there's always hope, hope just isn't worth a lot.

hope just seems like a fantasy tbh. sometimes i wonder if people who have hope for their futures are delusional. it kind of seems that way

It works out sometimes but I think waiting for things to happen is the problem. Sometimes you have to create good things such as approaching someone you're interested in
