Hotlines are robotic, babbling, and ultimately uncaring. They never even say anything meaningful. I can say, "I had a rough day today," and they'll say, "It sounds like you had a rough day today," and then, an hour later, the police show up at my door.

I have had good and mediocre results. Even the calls with scripted robots somehow tended to calm me. One guy was actually decent. He didn't object to my support for the right to choose death.
