I just wanted to add a little more to this thread - just in case anyone is considering this.
Metallic sodium is reactive in air and can be explosive in water. It is shipped/stored in mineral oil or kerosene to keep it from reacting. It needs to be handled with proper safety equipment as its melting point is below the temperature of your skin. If you forget and touch it with your hands, it will begin to react with the moisture in your skin. There are instructions available on line to make it yourself, but please don't try. You'll need to exercise great care with it once you've made it and need to store it. If someone found it and opened the jar or played with it, there could be real trouble.
1-methyl butyl-ethyl malonic ester (propanedioic acid or malonic acid) is also not typically shipped to residential addresses. Being an acid, it is of course, corrosive.
When heated, these chemicals will give off fumes and should be used under a hood if at all possible.
I can't try any harder than this to encourage anyone reading this to give this idea a hard pass. If you know a chemist, you might convince him or her to try it, but the synthesis of Nembutal is illegal almost anywhere you might be reading these words.
