Can you hang yourself from a council house light fitting.

UK members would probably be better answering this question, although anyone with knowledge etc, on this matter would be appreciated.

If your vote is YES I would appreciate any advice on how to do so. I have tried Internet searches etc, and coming up short.

Thanks All

You could test it out by holding onto the rope and putting all your weight on it.

@Anon1337

Appreciate the reply,
Although I don't have a proper rope unfortunately, planning on using a scarf, belt or a cord of sorts.
Also, attempting to do your suggestion would only show my family of the attempt, and further more revealing to them I actually suicidal, the last thing I want is for them to know, and I definitely can't end up in the mental health ward as I'm sure you can understand.

I'd recommend using a proper rope. The last thing you want is the cord snapping. I don't think belts are too bad though.

Thank you @Anon1337
I don't have access to one,
I don't go leave home at all, and if I was to order one my mum would get to it first and open it, leading to her finding out my intentions.

Belt is probably your best option then.

I'm thinking more of if the fixture will sustain your weight. Not all council houses are solid.

Thought as much, Thank you.
Still the dilemma of how, as stated previously I can't risk my intentions being known, also thought about partial but don't have a reliable resource, ie wardrobe bar, or anything of the sorts.

ANYTHING you are about to hang yourselve with should meet these simple requirements.

1. Does it cut off all oxygen supply

2. If step one is complete, the only thing holding you back is your own hesitations. If you can't hang yourself successfully on your first try, then you will never be able to die without conquering your survival instinct. I don't care what your method is, If you are not ready to die, your instincts will reflect that.

@Anon1337
Unfortunately Not.
I even considered trying it from my bed with it being pushed up against the wall, but I'm unsure if the wooden leg would hold.

Suicide shouldn't be rushed. Suicide should be carefully planned, making sure that your chance of surviving is low.

I am aware of the consequences of being found still alive, of course there is the fear of being found, but I would like to believe that when I eventually find a way to do it, that I would do so without being found in the appropriate time frame needed to pull it off.

I hope you do pull it off. I would hate anyone to be in that young mans position.

Thank you.
So do I If I can find where to do it from.
Agreed, my heart breaks for him. Wouldn't wish that to happen to your worst enemy.
