I feel disheartened because my apartment doesn't have any tie-off points that would allow for full body weight to ensure an easy passing. I imagine that tying off to a tree and jumping down or something of that sort would be effective. Is there anything I should be aware of before attempting this? I'm slightly worried that if I do it off a trail (obviously away from hikers) that someone would still find me.

I think I read here someone bought or try to buy something that can be used as an anchor point. I don't know the name but I hope you find it because doing it outside can be very risky. But if this isn't possible then do it at a tree like you mentioned. Visit the tree few times before you do it and see how quit it is. If you feel confident about it then do the act. I wish you the best.
