It can be quick and likely painless ( because of shock then a rapid death ) , or you can end up with a bullet in a nasal cavity or a non deadly part of your brain. With firearms, know the lethal spots and use the right gun, because if you get this one wrong, you wont likely be capable to try again. With any method, its all about being educated and prepared.

I'm sorry I do not know, and I in no way would encourage you to do this, or provide information even if I had it. I'm sorry, I would never want to help or encourage someone to CTB. Just keep in mind Even if you set it up perfect you could still flinch. As many people mentioned a failed gunshot attempt will have a very bad outcome. I believe everyone has free will and should have free choice, but I personally do not want you to go through with this. I was just offering my opinion.

Agree with other responses. As long as the calibre of the round is powerful enough, the aim is at the correct location and no flinching occurs before firing, oblivion should occur so quickly that the perception of any pain should be minimal.

Getting any of the above factors wrong, however, is a whole other ball game

Problem with guns shows up on the internet.....TOO MANY pictures of people who tried that.... survived and lost half their face. Now they have less chance of ctb...

That's because they were found immediately after the shot I guess and also not taking a correct shot.

Just a slight problem with recoil and your aim will be altered. You are right in that being found quickly could save you. I was surprised at how many guys tried and failed. I thought there wouldn't be as many men failing as gals... because men usually have more hand strength so recoil wouldn't be a problem. As a gal, I purchased a S & W .38 Special Airlite revolver. I go to the gun range. The trigger pull is just strong enough so that I wouldn't trust trying to shoot myself with just one hand. Then these that failed ended up having multiple operations costing thousands....Oy Vey! I know this intense but this is what I was referring to....

There's the rather infamous case of Raymond Belknap and James Vance who, after a night of heavy partying and, allegedly influenced by subliminal messages to "do it" in a Judas Priest song, decided to enter into a suicide pact. Grabbing a 12 guage shotgun, they went down to their local park and mutually agreed to blowing their brains out.

Belknap succeeded outright, but somebody forgot to inform Vance about a little thing called a conditioned reflex that causes the body to jerk just as the trigger is pulled. Vance survived, but succeeded in erasing his face. What was left was barely recognizable as human.

Vance was unable to consume solid food, drooled constantly, and was barely understandable.

Vance, now a social outcast, struggled with his condition for three more years before attempting suicide again, this time succeeding by taking an overdose of pain medication.

I do not know enough about guns to say for sure. Maybe someone else will answer the question. I decided if ctb is the goal..I would go the nitrogen gas hood method. No noise..no blood...could take 40 cf tank in the car...etc.

I wanted that too, but it takes 5/7 minutes to knock you out. You think you can control your SI for 5/7 minutes?

I know little about firearms , but I find it very interesting . I understand if you do it well that's a good peaceful quick ctb , but really need to practice and do things perfect , otherwise survival is one of the most horrible things ..

From what I learned research wise, if you successfully hold your breath, fill the hood with Nitrogen gas, pull it down over your face and inhale deeply...you will pass out and expire very quickly.....the site below (ergo) is much like FinalExit and the following was taken from that site...this was Derk Humphries' answer.......

Well it was method before so I did a lot of reading on it. Some sources said 15-30 seconds while some said 2/3 minutes so I'm really not sure what that would be. But of course once you're knocked out unconscious, you won't feel anything else except for some flinching before you fully die.

There is no such thing as a 100% method. Something could always go wrong and the thing that does go wrong might be even be you yourself. Gunshot and train? Too paralyzed to actually do it. H2S? Oh fuck that smells really bad. Partial hanging? Shit that's really uncomfortable. SN? Oh no you puked it all out or someone found you in time.

If you are committed to doing this you have to make sure to aim for the brainstem. A random spot could cause permanent damage instead.
