I can get my hands on a glock 19 gen 4. Is this a good gun to ctb and is it easy to use for someone who has no experience with guns?

@Rdc It should be sufficient, just make sure to use hollow-point rounds if you are CTB'ing. Also, try to go for the brainstem (side of the head/in through the mouth and slightly angled upwards) to ensure the best chances of success. Never aim under the chin (would likely result in failure and/or more painful death, i.e. not dying immediately, but bleeding to death).

alot of gun experts here. So my question.

Regular traditional shotgun seem really long. So I find this shotgun (which also 12 guauge), it just shorter length than regular one and fatter, easier for me to aim at the mouth (if I decide the gun route). So would this gun work? Would it give the same effect as those long skinny shotgun (like poster Pepper's guns in pg. 9)?

And you can buy this gun here in U.S. where I live, legal, sale at liscense gun store. Not sure if it gonna do the job though.

keltec_ksg_angled_ca_whitebg_100sdd0w_1.png

Wouldn't be ideal because you could not stick the barrel in your mouth. It's still usable however if you can't do better, you'll just have to point it at your head like how ksgkid did it. I personally wouldn't.
And talk about shotgun, are pump better or semi-auto?

There's really no difference for ctb purposes but pumps are cheaper.

So i've gotten myself into an ugly grey area and I was hoping someone could help me out.

So, I'm addicted to both phenibut and kratom and due to an error in shipping, I had to go to the ER in order to prevent withdrawal from running out before I got my new shipment in. My addiction has been documented at the hospital. Neither substances are regulated and are ready to purchase online like you would buy something off Amazon for instance. Does this disqualify me on the 4473? If so it would really suck for me as the firearms I already possess are definitely not ones that I trust to ctb (.22lr and 5.56 only.)

I've tried to look for an answer online but couldn't find anything related to my predicament.

So I've decided to ctb by firearm sometime in mid January. I've boiled it down to either a magnum .357 or a colt .44 (Any opinions on those handguns please feel free to weigh in). My biggest concern is the best angle/placement inside the mouth. I'm planning on using hollow tips unless for some reason there's a problem with that at the gun store. I guess I'm looking for a detailed way to get the job done right. I've read to put the barrel in the mouth and angle it upward but how far into the mouth should the barrel go? What is the best angle to hit the medulla? I look at anatomy pictures and at times it seems to be below the mouth so...just confused and would rather not attempt unless I know I won't end up a permanent vegetable. Anyway, any tips anyone can provide, thank you in advance!

5 years ago I tried a pill method. It would have been successful if my body hadn't been found in the woods. Now I'm terrified of any other "peaceful" methods because in the minutes before I passed out I was full of adrenaline and I was terrified by my actions. I don't want a SECOND to doubt myself again. Thank you for this thread.

These are my same exact questions and concerns regarding using a handgun. Unfortunately guns don't get the same discussion and feedback as other suicide methods on this forum. I'm thinking of trying the sn method and having a gun by my side as a backup. If i end up puking up the sn I will use the gun. I don't want to live through a suicide attempt and deal with the consequences. I hope someone can provide feedback on best gun and gun placement when shooting through the mouth.

And also I see .357 magnums with short barrels and ones with long barrels...is there a preferred method?

Doable but not ideal. 19's are a compact model and you'd ideally want a longer barrel. They're also in 9mm so the caliber is the minimum for sufficiency. If it's all that you can get then by all means use it but you could do better.

You absolutely do not want a snubnose. I'd say between 4-6 inches would be perfect.

Ammunition:

Always, always, always use hollowpoints, sometimes abbreviated in conversation and on the box itself "JHP" (Jacketted Hollow Point). JHPs deliver all the kinetic force of the bullet in as short a distance as possible. I.e., into your head, rather than into the wall on the other side of you. The brand doesn't matter; they all work.

Unfortunately I have only access to these bullets:
Geco .357 Magnum 158gr FMJ with flathead

Will it do the job?

Only alternative would be .44 230gr FMJ with flathead

Or should I try to drill holes inside the top?

I would go for the .44 230gr FMJ due to it being a heavier round and larger caliber, however, if recoil is an issue, then .357 Magnum 158gr FMJ. I would advise against trying to drill holes or tamper with the round's capabilities because that may compromise it's performance, thus leading to reliability issues.

Another question if someone knows: to best hit the medulla should you position the barrel of your gun in front of, through, or past the humpy part of the top of the mouth. I believe it's called the torus palatinus. And any advice on what angle is best to hit the medulla? It's still hard for me to figure out where the medulla is in relation to the head. It's the bottom of the brain but where is that in relation to the mouth and the nose? Thanks guys.

IANAL, but I think if you are using any illegal substances then you cannot truthfully answer NO on the 4473. Also, in regards to the ER stay at the hospital, if it wasn't involuntary (or court ordered), then I think you would be ok.

They're not illegal and the ER was voluntary. The wording on the 4473 seems to indicate narcotics but things like stimulants and depressants are vague e.g. caffeine is addicting and a stimulant and I bought several firearms when I was addicted to that.

Hi, I'm glad I found this thread. But just because I don't want to fuck up my attempt I thought I'd ask if a H&R Pardner Pump Protector Action Shotgun, 12 gauge, single barrel would be sufficient? It's about the only shotgun in my price range.

To answer @sad_frog 's question, yes that should be sufficient. I've done a quick search on the shotgun itself and it seems like a good choice. Just make sure you use 00 buckshot or slugs for reliability. Finally, make sure you NEVER aim underneath the chin, that is a common way to fail an attempt with a firearm!

Hey guys, still wondering at what angle I should hold a handgun in my mouth to aim for the medulla. Anyone know anything?

Having just read through the entirety of this thread, I have some thoughts to share.

First, a thank you to @TiredHorse and the op for providing info that is easily understood by the layperson (me).

Today I picked up my Mossberg 500 cruiser and some 00 buckshot. I chose this model because:
  • It's a shotgun, and I'm convinced after reading this thread and doing my own research that shotguns have the best chances of success
  • This gun is under 29" long. Before buying, I measured the length of my extended arm to get an idea of fit... I'm happy to report that it's very easy for me to reach/pull the trigger while the barrel is in my mouth
  • It was very affordable and easy to come by as far as guns go
  • Should I continue to put off catching the bus, I could see myself enjoying researching and collecting different components for this modular weapon
Some thoughts about my gun buying experience:
  • I live in a red state, so it was very easy. Just ordered it online and had it sent to a local FFL. I chose an out of the way rural market because I wanted to make a trip out of it
  • I bought the mossberg 500 "just in case" model and the plastic canister came damaged during shipping (wtf). No scuffs or apparent damage to the weapon (bought it new). Trying to determine if I should go through the trouble of contacting the seller and demanding a new product/shipping this one back. I don't care about the canister all that much
  • It's a nice feeling to have such a (relatively) sure fire method at my fingertips. Felt more "real" somehow than my experiments with hanging or receiving sn in the mail
All things considered, this is definitely the method I'd use now. I don't plan to for at least another couple of weeks, though. I plan to go either in the passenger seat of my car in an isolated/empty nature preserve or in a rented, isolated cabin. I know it's harder than it seems, but I don't think SI will pose a big problem for me with this method.

Just gotta hit that stem! I feel confident that I'll be able to destroy it given the shockwaves/etc created by a shotgun if nothing else.

To that point, here's a video showing the devastating power of a shotgun a close range:

I have a semi auto rifle chambered in 556 and a shotgun in 12ga. I have family I care about and the least I could do is leave them an open casket so my 12ga is out of the picture. Now for my rifle I could point and shoot it towards my heart maybe ? Only thing is 556 is a very small round so that's why it's fast. I'm afraid I might miss my heart and not be able to pull the trigger another two or three times and just sit there in pain bleeding to death. I can't get a pistol because I'm under 21 and live in commiefornia. I don't have any access to the darknet or anything like that or else I'd just use a hi point in 9mm Cheap and reliable.

@Detour, I would go with the 12 gauge for more power and damage. I cannot really advise you in regards to aiming at the heart, but just know that it would be harder than the head or in the mouth to the brainstem. I understand your wishes to have an open casket, but just keep in mind the risks of aiming at the chest. Death may/not be immediate and you may end up bleeding to death while still conscious, which is NOT a good way to go. One thing is that if it is possible to move out of California (Commiefornia) then try to pursue that the best you can.

@thrw_a_way1221221 , I am considering shooting myself at the temple with a 12 gauge shotgun with 00 buckshot ammo, instead of the brainstem through the mouth. All of the shotgun suicides I have seen on video, the subject either shoots the temple (everything above the nose is blown away), or they shoot at the forehead (which is a bad idea IMO).

So, if I am able to aim at the temple with my 12 gauge, will it be sufficient?

A flinch or droop of your trigger arm and you may merely scalp yourself and lose an ear.
