Hey all, first time poster here.

So something I've been fantasizing about is buying an Uber ride to an Academy. Once there I would try my absolute hardest to not give off red flags when trying to buy a 12 gauge and shells from the hunting section. Once I get it I would find some woods or just behind the store if it's sufficiently dark, load the shotgun up, point the barrel at my temple and fire.
Yes, I'm in a gun friendly state

A few questions
Is this a sound idea?
What would be the best way to not give off red flags when buying the gun?

Thank you all.

I actually recommend having more patience. Practice with a gun first if you haven't shot one before, look into different angles to shoot your head from and which is more successful (i.e., if this information is accessible. I've heard aiming for the brainstem through the mouth is a good bet, but overall a gun is typically a more reliable method with a smaller failure rate.), probably choose the woods... behind the shop is riskier & impulsive.

Well, shooting yourself as a method has a low failure rate in comparison to a lot of the other methods discussed here. But the failure rate isn't zero, and the consequences of that are far more devastating than failing some other methods, something to consider.

I feel like you'd have to go out of your way to give off red flags here. The person working there is just doing their job, multiple people come & go everyday, they're selling guns and ammo on the regular, nothing is out of the regular to them unless you make a point to be weird about it. If you feel worried about having a lack of knowledge on guns or ammo then ask questions, be partially honest: "I'm new to this, just took up shooting for [hunting, or a hobby, or because you're real enthusiastic about the 2nd amendment, bullshit a little bit]." just be casual & fine. They won't care as much as you think they will, the amount of insane morons that buy guns & ammo in the US... it really shouldn't be a problem unless you wear your paranoia & emotions on your sleeve.
