If you have not been "involuntarily" committed (forced against your will) and/or adjudicated mentally defective (via court decision or judge) then you should be able to safely answer "no" on the mental health question. IANAL, so this isn't actually legal advice and do make sure that you research the laws carefully and/or get others' opinions.
As far as gunshows, well if a particular state doesn't require BG checks, then you might be able to exploit a loophole, but of course, as always use caution and be aware of all the risks involved (legal and consumer related stuff).
