Hi, I've been trying to CTB with partial suspension quite often and it fails everytime. I can't seem to get the rope to cut off my blood flow. Full suspension is an option but the anchor point would make it likely for me to be found and stopped.

I would really like to just finally have a successful attempt. Are there certain knots I should be using? Why am I failing so bad at partial suspension? My only other alternative is slashing my throat. I'm at the point where I'm about ready to slash my throat but would like to give hanging another try before going out in such a violent and distressing manner.

It sounds as if you need a place where you know you will not be interrupted. Location can be very important. Full suspension certainly works if you have a place to do it. All you need is a place where you won't be disturbed for half an hour or so. I won't get into specifics at this point but I'm sure you have your own ideas.

Honestly, it's very hard to do partial. If you can't commit to it, I doubt you'll succeed in slitting your throat.

I think there's a common idea that you can slowly ease your way into a partial hanging, but quickly lose consciousness. Slowly and quickly don't compute. Definitely very hard to do.

Hanging attempts in general have a 50% success rate as based on the data compiled from ER visits, hospitalization, and death in one study.

Good read all around here:

The issue is that I get an extremely headache whenever I try and its too painful and I have to stop. But as I understand, if you place the rope correctly, you should quickly lose consciousness. Then once you go unconscious it becomes tighter from your body going limp.

You can't save yourself after you slash your throat, you don't need to commit, just need 5 seconds of bravery and then its too late to stop it.

Yeah my roommates sleeping schedules all over the place so there's never a time where Its guaranteed that someone won't come across me for at least 30 minutes. I guess I could book a motel room somewhere.

This is scary. But I make sort of attempts and can't really commit to stepping off I wonder if that counts. I have to hope stepping off does the trick.

That I don't know. The study doesn't go into much detail on what counts as an attempt. I would imagine it is more than placing a noose around your neck, but I guess that's left open for interpretation. Comparing to other studies there is wildly conflicting info. One study reports an 86% percent success rate. Leading me to believe the 50% incorporated any instance of a hanging attempt that arrived for medical treatment.

Update, a member messaged me and gave me advice on how to proceed. I tested it and it seems like it will work well, I started to lose my vision with very little pain. I'll be going through with it tomorrow evening. I'm legitimately happy and haven't felt this good in a while. The people responsible for pushing me to this point will feel guilt. There's only 2 people I actually care about but I can barely even think about them im too excited.

Can you share what the advice was?
