Discussion Exploding gas tank

Let's say I have a petrol car, will a full tank of gas. Put a rope into the tank which I light on the other end while I run into the car. The petrol ignites whilst I'm inside the car.
Do you think it would work?

Most likely wouldn't actually kill you. You'd probably just end up injuring yourself and get a couple 3rd degree burns.

If boom is how you want to go I'd recommend AP+Al powder.

If not second best would be gunpowder.

If not I'd recommend renting a Aluminum keg from the local supermarket and fill it up with gasoline get some safety fuse and lay on top of it.

Confinement is key for deflagration. Higher concentration of gas in a confined space = higher pressure = higher deflagration velocity (m/s)
