Hoo boy, you'd be REALLY sad to see it now. All of the independent businesses on University Ave are being forced out; Leonardo's By the Slice is slated to close this year. That alone leaves me rocking myself in a fetal position.
Ok. I'm going to have to stop you at Leonardo's by the Slice. The food and culture cravings that has brought on are nearly unbearable! Oh how sad it is. I saw the announcement about two years ago. A few years prior to that-the last time I visited-I tried to go to this old Cuban spot...it's now a Greyhound Station...or rather it was then...who knows now. You know you're getting old when you start feeling change...

(I'm kidding about stopping you. Never stop sharing. You're bringing me back in touch with memories I haven't accessed in a long time. Really good ones...still struggle, but with people and love. I miss those times so much.)

Yeah, the last few screenshots just shows how incompetent those people are. They are like parroting off and spewing off shit that doesn't always make sense and it's infuriating to say the least. Furthermore, they aren't helpful at all like you've said and refuse to acknowledge how broken the system is (I guess they probably couldn't say certain things while on their job or they may lose their job on the spot). This reminds me of how useless counselors and therapists are in general, or at least the ones I've experienced throughout school (including university). Personally, I'm way past the point of ever getting 'help' again as it's useless at best for me and dangerous at worst (involuntarily committed, life made worse, etc.).
Right on. I'm always curious, so I keep searching in many ways. This particular search always leads me back to this state, and the only way I can see a way out of it for years now.

Girl. I still mourn the Purple Porpoise and Burrito Brothers! Where are you now?

Ha! You say Purple Porpoise and I can do is smell vomit. Ladies night there...oh, that was dangerous. I think I went to Burrito Brothers once. I wasn't into burritos much then, and it was always packed and hot as I recall. Of course, most of the good places were back then.

I was there during the days of Hot Water Music, Think Tank, drum circles played by nomadic hippies without harassment from the cops...Lush, Soul House, The Covered Dish...and this really cool place that was above the shithole country place 30 seconds or whatever.

Were you there in 2001?

I live on the SW coast of Florida now.

OMG, the Covered Dish!! I haven't thought about that place in ages. I've been here since 1994, so I bet we crossed paths, or almost did.

Seriously, Stephen A. Bagen commercials make me stabby. TO THIS DAY.

Some are good and some are bad. But even with the good ones, really all they can do is say something to make you feel better or refer you to therapy. That's all they can do in terms of really helping you in life. The second the phone call ends, it's right back to reality and your problems could very well continue. Hotlines can't do anything for me because my problems keep happening.
